Question About Build / Transport Timing
In early May I put a deposit down on a 2026 RAV4 Limited. It showed up in SmartPath as in build phase with estimated availability date 06/07 - 06/25.
On 05/10 the VIN was changed from temp to perm. It sat there until today (05/18), when the estimated availability date changed to 06/03 - 06/15. It still shows in build phase.
I thought — apparently wrongly — that the permanent VIN was assigned when the car left the factory, and that the window sticker perhaps showed up at port. But if this is correct, I don't know why the car still shows as in build. It seems like it's going to have to get on a ship pretty soon to make it across the ocean to Portland on time.
I've asked the dealer for an update. But he just regurgitates what's on SmartPath, so it's not very helpful.
And, no, I don't really need to know. But I'm curious, having fun speculating, and not too patient it seems.
Any thoughts on this?
