ACR is actually pretty cool, but I keep coming back to RBR every single time.
Everything just feels right there… the force feedback, the car physics, the tires, the slip, the way the tires deform, and even how the surface you’re driving on feels.
And somehow, even more importantly: RBR has actual rallies, not just a single stage that almost everyone knows by heart anyway.
Why the hell is everyone so upset about Update 0.5.1?
For the first time, the simulator is actually moving in the right direction when it comes to the overall grip levels!

The gravel definitely doesn’t seem to be where it’s supposed to be!
My dad had a go on my sim today after I asked him how you’re actually meant to take a hairpin on gravel, because every time I try it in a rear-wheel drive car like the Fiat 131, I just end up completely over-rotating it… and the handbrake feels more for show than anything else in a car from that era.
(For context: my dad used to rally back in the Group B days. The most powerful thing he drove for a season was a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, though he spent most of his time driving a Renault 5 Turbo,
so he definitely knows what he’s talking about.)
Anyway, he reckons the car… considering how little power it has… is way too twitchy and has far too much grip on gravel, which is why it just spins around so aggressively and you basically become a passenger. According to him, the in-game physics are overcorrecting things and making it feel way too “grippy”.
(Edit: I’ve only driven AWD and FWD cars so far, so I don’t really have any real-life comparison point for RWD cars on gravel.)
