People should go straight to university after O Level
My opinion is that people in Zim should go to university straight after O level instead of spending 2 more years doing A Level.
People often say that after O Level you're too young or not mature enough to understand complex concepts. I don't think that's true. Young people usually learn faster and adapt more quickly than older people. It's better to repeat a semester while you still young than repeating A Level doing some wide materials that you are not going to specialize on.
For most STEM degreeprograms( engineering and etc) the first semester covers much of the same mathematics, chemistry, biology and etc, taught at A Level. The main difference is the pace. Lecturers move much faster because they assume students already know the basics.Instead of repeating similar content for two years, students could learn it directly at university.
Graduating at around 20 years old also gives people more time to explore different career paths, start businesses, gain experience, or even study further. Unlike the late twenties, many people are already dealing with marriage, raising children, paying rent, and other financial responsibilities. Those pressures make it much harder to take risks or pursue innovative ideas, especially in Africa.
Some people may disagree with my arguments, but one thing is certain time is more valuable than money.
It's similar to Olympic gymnastics. The chances of winning a gold medal are much lower if you only start training as an adult. Starting earlier gives you more time to develop your skills and reach your full potential.
