How is 2026 so fkn lame?

how is it already 2026 and we’re getting nothing 😭
No new WLW movies
No country legalizing same-sex marriage.
No interesting LGBTQ+ shows that everyone is losing their minds over.
No new Handmaiden/Carol/Portrait-level obsession.
I feel like 2026 has been 8 months of absolutely nothing happening in the WLW universe.
Was the queer media renaissance just a limited-time offer or what 💀
Thanks to GL for saving me during these hard times

Does anyone else feel like there’s a weird generational gap in how comfortable people are with their sexuality?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
I’m in my early 20s, and recently I’ve been meeting quite a few people who are 15, 16, 17 and seem surprisingly comfortable with their sexuality. They talk about it pretty openly, seem to know themselves, and generally just don’t seem to carry the same level of shame or fear that I remember having at that age.
And honestly, it’s been making me think a lot about my own experience.
I first realized my sexuality when I was around 13, and for me it was basically the opposite. I was so scared and ashamed of it that I ended up repressing it completely. I convinced myself that it was something I had to get rid of, and I didn’t really start confronting it again until my early 20s. It affected my life way more than I realized at the time.
What’s weird is that I don’t feel like I meet many people around my own age, especially women, who are genuinely comfortable with their sexuality. But then I meet someone who is 16 and they’re just… comfortable. Not necessarily out or anything, but they seem much more accepting of themselves.
And I’m literally only in my early 20s, so the age difference isn’t even that huge. Sometimes it feels like people born after 2011 grew up in a completely different world from people born before 2011.
Why?
I keep wondering whether there was some actual shift that happened around that time. Was it social media? TikTok and Instagram becoming a much bigger part of people’s lives? Growing up with smartphones and constant access to global LGBT communities and content? Or could the post-2011 environment in Egypt have something to do with it?
The weird thing is that I also had internet access when I was 13. My friends did too. So I don’t understand why my generation seems to have had such a different experience with it.
I’m sure there are plenty of 15-17 year olds who are still deeply repressed and scared.
But I’m really curious if anyone else here has noticed this, especially people in their early 20s or older.
Did you also feel like there was a noticeable difference between your generation and the teenagers coming after you? And if so, what do you think caused it?

Arabic movie recommendation: In Between (بر بحر)

I feel like this movie deserves way more love in sapphic spaces.
In Between (بر بحر) is a 2016 Palestinian movie about three Palestinian women sharing an apartment in Tel Aviv. One of them, Salma, is a lesbian who falls for a woman she meets while working at a bar and it goes through their love story and family issues AND it ends hopefully
Disclaimer:It’s not a fluffy romance or a typical WLW movie at all

I feel more lonely after accepting my sexuality than before

I don’t even know why I’m writing this. I guess I just need to get it out.
I’ve spent most of my life repressing my sexuality. Recently I decided I was done doing that. I told myself I’d finally accept who I am instead of constantly trying to convince myself I could just ignore it.
But honestly? Since I stopped repressing it, I’ve never been this heartbroken.
I know I live in Egypt. I know it’s not exactly easy to meet sapphic women here. I wasn’t expecting some magical love story overnight. What I wasn’t expecting was that I can’t even seem to make friends.
It keeps happening. I’ll meet someone, we’ll talk for hours or even days, the conversation is great, they’re telling me I’m nice, pretty, fun to talk to, everything seems completely normal. Then out of nowhere… they disappear. Either they ghost me or I find out they’ve blocked me everywhere.
And I mean everywhere.
The latest girl I talked to was genuinely so sweet. We’d been talking for about a week. Our last messages weren’t awkward or weird or anything. They were literally just normal, cute conversations. Then one day I realized she’d blocked me on everything.
Why?
She didn’t even have to block me. If she’d just unfollowed me or stopped replying, I would’ve gotten the hint and left her alone. Blocking me everywhere just feels so extreme when nothing even happened.
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m constantly overthinking every conversation, wondering if I said something weird without realizing it.
The thing that’s messing with my head the most is that I’ve never experienced this with men.
I’m not attracted to men, but when I interacted with them, I was always the one being pursued. I was usually the uninterested one. I never had to wonder whether someone wanted to talk to me because they made it obvious.
Now it’s the complete opposite. I’m the one getting ghosted. I’m the one getting blocked. I’m the one wondering what I did wrong every single time.
It’s making me more insecure than I’ve been in years.
Some days I honestly wonder if I should just go back to repressing this part of myself. Not because I think it’s right, but because at least I wasn’t constantly getting hurt. Sometimes I even catch myself thinking maybe my family was right, maybe this is the wrong path, maybe I should just force myself back into the life I was trying to live before.
I know that’s probably not healthy, but that’s genuinely where my head has been lately.
I don’t know what I’m expecting from posting this. Maybe I just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through something similar, because right now I just feel really alone.

I got catfished by a man pretending to be a woman… again.

I’m honestly starting to develop trust issues at this point.
Around 10 days ago, I made a post here about men invading sapphic spaces. Well… it happened to me again.
A girl messaged me from what looked like a completely normal account. She had a realistic name, multiple photos, regular posts, and even a whole personality through the way she posted and talked. Nothing about it seemed suspicious. We chatted for a while, and I genuinely believed I was talking to another woman.
Then things started feeling off, so I confronted “her.”
Turns out it was a man the entire time.
The photos were AI-generated. He had fabricated an entire identity just to interact with women. As soon as I called him out, he deleted the photos and stopped responding.
What really gets to me isn’t just that someone lied. It’s the amount of effort that went into it. Creating an entire fake woman with AI pictures, a believable posting history, a personality… just to get access to sapphic spaces. It’s honestly disturbing.
And now I’m left wondering how I’m even supposed to trust people online. If an account looks real, has multiple pictures, posts like a normal person, and carries on completely natural conversations… what exactly am I supposed to look for?
Has anyone else dealt with this? Because it’s starting to make me question every new person who messages me, and I hate feeling that way.

Does a French degree earned outside France qualify for the RECE permit or the 2-year citizenship rule?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand how French immigration and nationality rules apply to degrees awarded by French universities through international joint programs.
Suppose someone earns a master’s degree from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne through a joint program with a university in another country . The diploma is issued by the French university, but the student never lived in France and never had a French student residence permit.
My questions are:
Would this person be eligible for the Recherche d’emploi / Création d’entreprise (RECE) post-study permit, or is it only available to students who physically studied in France on a French student residence permit?
Would this type of degree also count for the 2-year residence requirement for French naturalization, or does that reduction only apply to people who actually completed at least two years of higher education while living in France?

Men in Sapphic spaces

Has anyone else noticed how many men seem to lurk or participate in WLW/sapphic spaces while hiding the fact that they’re men?
I’m not talking about respectful allies who are transparent about who they are. I’m talking about accounts that intentionally present themselves as women or avoid mentioning they’re men until much later. I’ve run into this multiple times, and it honestly leaves me feeling uncomfortable.
What I don’t understand is… why?
WLW spaces exist because we’re attracted to women and because many of us want a place where we don’t have to deal with male attention or the expectation that men should be included in every conversation. It’s not about hating men,it’s just about having a space centered on women who love women.
So when I find out someone has been pretending to be a sapphic woman or deliberately blending into these spaces despite being a man, it feels invasive. It makes it harder to trust people and changes the atmosphere of what’s supposed to be a community for us.
Has anyone else experienced this? If you’re a man who’s spent time in these spaces (respectfully and openly), I’d also genuinely be interested in hearing what draws you there, because I don’t really understand the appeal.
