Camp grilling

US Forest Service cracks down on charcoal. But firewood is OK. ?

I pulled into the campground (Zephyr Cove, NV - 4th of July weekend) with my Weber Kettle in my pickup. I was told charcoal is prohibited but firewood is OK to burn as long as it’s in the fire ring. Propane grills are also welcomed. Luckily I scavenged some wood and the carne asada worked out.

Now I have to think about investing in a travel propane grill. I’m between a Weber traveler or a Coleman Road Trip. I only camp once or twice a year.

Multipurpose Charcoal Grill

I’m looking for a charcoal grill that can smoke ribs, chicken, etc and still be used for direct heat for steak searing and carne asada. I also would like to be able to raise/lower the cooking surface and/or the coal grate. Any considerable options out there?
