Did Katseye Ever Really Heal from seeing each other as Competition?

With Manon leaving/ in hiatus the cracks in Katseye are really starting to show. The reputation they got from DA that seemed to almost be solved with Manon's presence in the group is now constantly being brought up. The girls don't seem to have a group bond IMO. They seem like they don't spend time with each other unless it's for work, which shows when they all talk over each other in interviews. Lara and Dani almost never let anyone finish their stories, Sophia would be a lot better to watch if she wasn't always doing damage control in all their interviews. Yoonchae still seems scared to talk in English (fair) and Megan seems checked out since the Grammys.

It makes me wonder if the girls have any long term goals as a group. They aren't involved in the music (writing or producing), they don't have a say in their stage productions, they don't have a say in their concepts. Can they even work together to create songs for the group or is this just a stepping stone to bigger opportunities?? Do they have a similar message they want to share as a group or are they just too different? Every interview they mention how they're from different upbringings but it seems more and more like a negative thing instead of a strength the more they bring it up. For 1.5 yrs of their career, personality carried them but now it seems like the novelty has worn off and they haven't settled into the reality of being together long term.

Lara's Cover On IG

Link

Lara just posted this cover of a Beyonce song on her IG and I'm sooo happy to see her take her music seriously. She's posted a bunch of covers before but nothing like this. The production was good, her vocals were chef's kiss and she looked STUNNING. As someone who has said that I don't think they take their music seriously she's really making me eat my words.

I obviously have a few critiques which are that she doesn't know how to give a song depth. Idk where exactly her vocals range lies coz I don't really know music theory, but she really focuses on keeping it in the higher range to show off her whistle note and I think it limits her a lot. She doesn't enunciate properly and does too many unnecessary runs IMO and it makes the song sound very one note instead of giving it emotion and depth. The hand movements were also a bit much but I understand coming from a dancing background with Katseye she probably feels awkward standing still. Together those two things have the performance a lounge singer type of vibe instead of pop star.

She still did so well and I'm happy to see a glimpse of what her artistry could be like. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Daniela's Dad was the key to finding out the reason for Manon's Hiatus

I mean this in a funny big picture kind of way. He really was the only loose cannon and if Eyekons weren't rightfully angry at the time, people could have gotten all the juicy details from him. Everyone is so tight lipped and basically no leaks on to why this whole drama is happening and it just hit me that he was the only one to give us a glimpse of the inside.

I have no dogs in this fight and don't really care whether Katseye remain 5 or 6 (still love Manon, my sister in melanin ,🤞🏾) but I'm dying to get some answers coz this has dragged on for too long IMO. Wish Daniela's Dad could come back and tell us the details coz I'll take anything ATP. He's still a dirty bastard but I'm just nosy.

Eyekons and their strange mentality

  1. Ever since Iconic by Mistake came out,I've seen a lot of people say that HXG are the ones causing hate for the group so they can sell 'clap back' songs. This has to be one of the dumbest theories I've seen in recent times. If I'm not wrong, other than a few shit talking Kpop stans aren't most of Katseye's haters just solo stans?? Also what exactly is the company supposed to do with bored jealous bitches taking shit online?? Of course it sucks that they keep getting dragged over silly BS, but most of that was started by eyekons themselves (yes I count solos as eyekons coz what else would they be?)This isn't Korea where the company can sue anyone for saying shit online so what should they do??

  2. Fans playing identity politics is what stunts the group musically. I love that the group is diverse and that girls and women everywhere can see one of their own shine on an international stage but at this point it really seems like a hindrance. It's created one of the most fragmented fandoms in recent times. A lot of fans genuinely can't see beyond race and ethnicity and it has done more harm than good. The music is on a downward spiral, but at least the group has an Indian girl!! The company has found a giant loophole to make money from race obsessed fans without ever having to genuinely attempt to give them a good discography coz they can count on that to do the heavy lifting.

TL,DR: Eyekons are Katseye's biggest haters and identity politics is killing the group.

Katseye Dance Breaks

Idk if this has been mentioned in the sub yet but I've seen a lot of people disappointed that Katseye keep doing the same choreography and dance breaks for their songs and I'm seriously confused. Since when do artists change choreography they've already made for their songs? What are people actually talking about?? This doesn't even happen in the KPOP world so I genuinely wonder where this entitlement has come from. Are they supposed to memorise new choreo for every stage? I understand the music has people frustrated but some Eyekons have genuinely lost it fr.
