Non-latinas have no right to police how latina Daniela is

This is going to be a controversial post but I saw a popular post on here asking why latinas don't see Daniel as latina (and whilst I don't exactly agree with them either but eh), the amount of people ik the comments saying how stupid latinas are and how they're wrong etc rubs me the wrong way.

The latina community has the right to define who they do and don't see as latina and non-latinas do not have the right to overturn that. The same goes for any group.

I myself migrated from my home country to the UK when I was 3 and I have people all the time so I understand the feeling of not being seen as fully part of the culture of your country and also your parent's country. One of the worst parts of being a migrate from any gen or even mixed is that identity limbo, having not one space to claim you fully. But my situation does not give me a right to dictate how the latina community understand what being "latina" means.

Just because you think it makes her such, doesn't really matter in the end even though you're allowed to have your opinion. Identity is a social construct, there are no set perimeters. So if one community decides their own permitters for identity and decide Daniela doesn't fit into them, it may be unfairly harsh on Daniela but that doesn't mean that its any less valid for the Latina community. It's the same for Selena Gomez, Jenna Ortega etc. You can have opinions on a community you aren't a part of but at the end if the day your decision doesn't trump theres no matter what you think of it.

This obviously doesn't apply to those who are part of the Latina community and see Daniela as such, but the general consensus i've seen is different, unless its changed or i'm seeing the wrong stuff. This is not meant to be hate to daniela, the poor girl gets enough as it is, its less about her and more about identity categorisation as whole.

This is a long and stupid and unnecessary rant but like I said it applies to any community not just latina, I just see this view on this sub a lot but I don't really agree with it and I've not seen anyone else make the point either lols

Why they always ask Katseye KPOP related questions LOL

I think only Yoonchae and Sophia have knowledge of true Kpop. Sophia being more of a fan of BTS and current kpop groups. While Yoonchae has stated she is a fan of all Kpop. Including the kpop groups from her generation when she was younger ( Big bang, IU, girls generation etc) The other girls are kind of blank when it comes to Kpop. I know they stated their fans of BTS especially Jhope and blackpink, but I believe its more respect towards HYBE and kpop industry. Rather then being avid listeners.

I always see an interviewer ask a Kpop relevance question. For example during the AMA the person asked them "When is a BTS collab going to happen"? or the recent interview with VANITY FAIR. The interviewer asked them "Which mom is the most Kpop fan" or something like that and they all pointed to Megan's mom. I thought Sophia mom would be a kpop fan but I think its her dad only and Yoonchae never spoke up about her mom being a Kpop fan. I don't know how old Yoonchae mom is, but she probably listens to Trout music ( old school Korean songs) or 90's Kpop when it first started like H.O.T or Seo Taji.

Did Katseye Ever Really Heal from seeing each other as Competition?

With Manon leaving/ in hiatus the cracks in Katseye are really starting to show. The reputation they got from DA that seemed to almost be solved with Manon's presence in the group is now constantly being brought up. The girls don't seem to have a group bond IMO. They seem like they don't spend time with each other unless it's for work, which shows when they all talk over each other in interviews. Lara and Dani almost never let anyone finish their stories, Sophia would be a lot better to watch if she wasn't always doing damage control in all their interviews. Yoonchae still seems scared to talk in English (fair) and Megan seems checked out since the Grammys.

It makes me wonder if the girls have any long term goals as a group. They aren't involved in the music (writing or producing), they don't have a say in their stage productions, they don't have a say in their concepts. Can they even work together to create songs for the group or is this just a stepping stone to bigger opportunities?? Do they have a similar message they want to share as a group or are they just too different? Every interview they mention how they're from different upbringings but it seems more and more like a negative thing instead of a strength the more they bring it up. For 1.5 yrs of their career, personality carried them but now it seems like the novelty has worn off and they haven't settled into the reality of being together long term.

hate towards lara again?

so this video is gaining some traction on tiktok and it’s making its way on X and reddit too, and now lara is apparently starting to get hate. from my understanding, orlando (lara’s boyfriend who she supposedly met at a party through D4VD) previously dated egyptian singer jana diab. as seen in the video, the pair posted a tiktok to ‘touch’ and KATSEYE reposted, then 2 months after, orlando and lara had matching tattoos.

i have already seen in the comments on tiktok, and on reddit and X which i wont share except from the ones on tiktok — that she’s the one getting most of the hate from it, i think especially because of the recent interview where the girls spoke about what they would do in the situation of a ‘gabriela’. i can’t post the comments because i uploaded a video, but it’s stuff like ‘he fumbled,’ ‘oh she’s the gabriela’ et cetera. i don’t think the girls need any more hate at the moment, there has been so much brewing and i genuinely feel it’s too much, and super unfair. also, a lot of eyekons generally dislike orlando for their own reasons whether it’s his looks (which i disagree with as you shouldn’t hold that against someone), his weird posts, or his age in comparison to lara’s, however this is not reflecting greatly on either of them.
i also wanted to post this because i thought it was interesting he dated another singer before. i know he’s in the music industry too, but on a smaller scale. people are already saying he’s a clout chaser and social climber 🤷🏼‍♀️

before anyone comments ‘who cares,’ you don’t have to care. it’s just unfortunate there’s a girl who is going to get hate because she’s in a relationship with someone. she’s over 18, and has her own free will and there’s nothing that indicates she homewrecked this relationship at all.

Katseye is expected to make a ESTIMIATED 90 to 120 million dollars from the Wild World tour? How much does each 5 member make?

Some of the money goes to the production cost, stage crew, and the traveling, but what is the split between the Katseye members.

Since they are in a group their payout will be a lot lower compare to a solo singer, because they have to split the amount. Do you think each member will at least get a few millions each? and I'm guessing the label will get the rest of the amount. They say concert tours is where the artist can make the most money.

the "sisterhood leak" is fake and was originally from a katseye ai music slop channel 3 months ago

I clicked on the thumbnail without reading the title and through the first 3 seconds I was like "wait isn't this that sisterhood song" then I read the title and turns out it was from an katseye ai music slop channel, wouldn't be surprised if it did become an actual katseye song tho LMAO

Anyone else feel like Iconic By Mistake contradicts Mean Girls?

I just feel like Mean Girls whole message was about understanding someone's insecurity and letting go of the hurt they caused you, being the bigger person, having empathy for them. Then in Iconic By Mistake they're clapping back at the haters, and instead of letting go they're using it to their leverage. Idk i just feel like Katseye's whole concept has gone sideways

Lets talk about Sophia's popularity

Honestly this is just a conversation i want to have, without attracting any type of hate towards her, the post is merely out of curiosity.

the other day i was hanging out with couple of friends and the group was brought up, we eventually started talking about our favourite members and why they were our favourites. and honestly, in the end of the day its clearly a matter of personal preference if you click or dont with someone or whatever it is.

but what most of them said was that sophia compared to the rest of the group, is "too polished". I understand what they mean by that because i feel like shes very well media trained and at often times reminds me of old kpop idols.

But i find it funny that theres apparently been a drop in her popularity overall when back the day, the general consensus was always that she was the best or one of the popular girls in DA. But now in the group, that seems to have shifted to Manon, Dani and Lara.

I wish the girls would limit their Instagram comments

I know it's not their responsibility to change their normal lives based on the internet's general feelings about them, but it feels horrible to click on one of their posts and see just nasty (and, in Lara's and Manon's cases, racist) vitriol being spewed. If it's already so demoralizing as a fan, I can't imagine what it is doing to their mental health. Specially when you take into account how online the girls are. Right now, they're not too bad, but I know the harassment will go crazy again the moment another update on Manon's hiatus drops or when their album comes out. I wish they or their company would protect their peace even a little bit and start at least blocking the extremely abusive accounts that hate just to hate by being racist, homophobic or sexually violent towards the girls.

Edit: minor spelling correction

Lara Raj’s ethnicity

I know that she has Indian roots, but her father is Sri Lankan Tamil man, according to the internet. However, recently, I just saw this FAQ about Lara Raj on Google that her father was just simply born in Sri Lankan to his ethnically Indian parents, is that right? (not trying to spark a controversy on any matter from this topic).

Either way, she’s still DESI BADDIE.
