Taking a mental health day

Trigger warning: mental health

I decided to take a mental health day tomorrow since I’m really struggling. I do not feel happy anymore. For context, I’m a first year, emergency-certified teacher working at a high school. I genuinely enjoy my classes and my students overall are kind, funny, and smart. But I am struggling. I feel extremely lonely. All I want to do is sleep all the time. All I do is go to work, sleep, and then do more work at home.

This weekend I started feeling like everything would be better if I just disappeared. I haven’t felt that way in a long time and it scared me. I know I need to see a therapist. I just feel lost rn. There is a heavy sadness in my chest, and it’s really difficult to go into work. I want to feel at peace with my life but I don’t.

I want to cry

Not much to say except I’m so stressed out and tired. Curriculum is a mess and I don’t know how it’s going to get fixed. I’m a new teacher (emergency certified) and already feel so lost. I want to cry but crying wasted time and I dont have time. Just needed somewhere to put my thoughts.

Update: I truly appreciate all of the kind messages that people left. ❤️ it makes me sad that so many teachers feel the same way; I wish we could just fix education to make it better for everyone. I still haven’t cried yet. I think there is something wrong with me emotionally or I’m just too tired. Hope everyone is able to take care of themselves.

Also, for anyone suggesting I use AI, you’re part of the problem.

I’m going to burn out

I’m laying in bed typing this rn even though I need to be up doing work and making dinner. It’s only the second week of school and I’m exhausted. I need help. I have so much to do but it just feels like I’m falling further and further behind. I don’t know what to do.

Does anyone feel no interest in eating?

Hi everyone. I wanted to post here because I’ve been experiencing some things that I’m not sure are ARFID or not, and I’m just looking for clarity.

I few years ago, I was diagnosed with ARFID after experiencing periods of highly restrictive eating from the time I was in third grade (for context I’m 25 now). I did an outpatient program when I was in college and am in a much better place than I used to be. I’m finally at a healthy weight for the first time in my life.

Where my concern comes in is that I still feel very uninterested in eating and feel like it’s a chore. I feel horrible anxiety when I have to grocery shop and will often put off eating as long as I possibly can. I’m not sure if this is still considered ARFID or if it’s something else. Can ARFID be cured? Should I start seeing a therapist again? I’m worried because I don’t want this behavior to start impacting me negatively, but I also hate putting effort into eating.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sad about French

Salut tout le monde. I feel kind of pathetic for posting this but I feel sad about my French level. I know I should out more effort into practicing, but I feel afraid to. I don’t know why. I’ve been studying and speaking French for a long time but still feel really insecure about my level. Does anyone else feel like this ever?

Praxis vs ACTFL- any advice?

Bonjour tout le monde! I am working towards earning my certification to teach French in the US and need to take either the Praxis or ACTFL to get into a cert program. Does anyone have any insight into which test may be "better"? Merci de votre soutien! 😚

Panicking about my French level

Bonjour tout le monde! This is my first time posting, so I apologize in advance for any mistakes. I feel very panicked about my level of French (i.e. it's not improving). Has anyone else experienced this fear and what did you do to get over it? I'm also worried that even if I practice I won't get any better and just feel over all stuck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Merci d'avance 😄
