Passed, first attempt, study time: 1 week

I just passed the IAPP AIGP barely. My score was 30x/500. Mine is probably not a good preparation model to follow, but it might give people an idea of what the bare minimum can look like.

For info, AIGP is the first IAPP certification exam I take.

My preparation

Due to some disastrous time management, I only seriously studied for about one week before the exam, roughly 3–5 hours per day.

In hindsight, I would probably want to double that effort to feel reasonably confident about getting a safe pass.

My main resource was Dr. David Kyle’s AIGP course.

What I managed to complete:

  • All lecture videos, mostly at 2.0x speed
  • About 30% of the flashcards
  • 2 of the four available mock exams provided by course.
  • My mock scores 8x% range to 9x%

That last part gave me a false sense of security.

Despite doing very well on my final mock, my actual AIGP score was only 30x/500 — a very narrow pass.

The real exam was MUCH harder than the practice questions

It's not a surprise, but the actual exam felt considerably more difficult than any of the practice tests I did.

Process of elimination is extremely important when doing multiple choices questions.

I also thought a number of questions were poorly or ambiguously framed. There were probably at least 10 where I felt important facts and info were missing.

My basic approach was:

Learn → Quiz → Review mistakes → Quiz again → Review again

I strongly believe that you learn this material by repeatedly testing yourself rather than just rereading notes.

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a huge bank of high-quality AIGP MCQs available. If I could go back, I would definitely complete every mock exam available to me.

Another thing I didn't have enough time to do: read the major legislation/frameworks themselves at least once.

Dr. David Kyle's course was extremely helpful, but I would describe it like this:

The course gives you the skeleton, the structure, and the door into the subject. You still benefit enormously from opening that door and reading some of the original materials yourself.

For things like the EU AI Act, GDPR-related concepts, NIST AI RMF, OECD principles, etc., I think reading the relevant original text/framework at least once would have helped me internalize the distinctions rather than just remember what the slide deck said.

Memorization absolutely matters. There are terms, frameworks, roles, lifecycle stages, regulatory distinctions, etc. that you simply need to know.

But one thing I wish I had spent much more time doing was connecting the dots.

The hard part was not knowing individual definitions, but understanding:

  • how concepts relate to each other;
  • which governance controls apply at different lifecycle stages;
  • how laws, standards and voluntary frameworks interact;

Final thoughts

If you have enough time, don't study the way I did. One week at 3–5 hours/day was enough for me to scrape through, but based on how close my score was, I wouldn't consider it a safe strategy at all.

And don't get overconfident because you're scoring 80–90% on practice exams. The real exam humbled me very quickly.

Good luck to everyone preparing!

Does anyone find it difficult to take the perfume bottle out of the protective paper cylinder?

Just for my first bottle of Ffern :) Summer 26 - Smells divine! But got a issue with the slipping the bottle out of the paper cylinder cover. Any tips?

Ch. 134 Analysis & Ch. 135 Predictions

After looking at the original Japanese text and gauging the reaction of the JP fanbase, I’m convinced we are at the most significant turning point for Loid’s character development.

Ch. 134

1. Ch. 134: "Aishitemasu" (愛してます)

During the SSS interrogation, Loid is asked the ultimate question: >!Do you love your wife?!<”. Without hesitation and the normal calculating sound in his mind, he answers: >!"Yes, I love her."!<

The absence of internal chatter is an indication that his reply is no longer a 100% mission-calculated response. Many JP readers noted that the phrasing and the specific "vibe" of the scene go beyond simple tatemae (public face). It’s a moment where his hon-ne (true feelings) are leaking through.

I believe Loid will reflect his intuitive response in the coming chapters, and realize his true feelings soon.

2. Ch. 135 Forecast: It’s Yor behind that door.

There’s been debate about who is at the door, but remember Yuri’s “Yor-radar”? We’ve seen him detect her scent / presence from ridiculous distances (like the truck incident in Ch. 84 that absolutely disgusted Chloe lmao). His reaction in the last panel practically confirms it: The Briar siblings' intuition is seldom wrong. 😛

3. The "Parallelism" Masterclass: Returning to Chapter 2

Endo-sensei loves using parallelism to show growth. We’ve seen it in:

  • Anya refusing to study and locked herself in the room: Yor reminded Loid of Anya's comment that they were 100/100 points parents.
  • The Cruise Arc: Yor remembering Loid’s encouragement in Ch.2 when she's almost lost in her fight.
  • The Seal Episode: Yor recalling Loid’s stress during the school admission process and asking Loid to relax.
  • The Second Date: Returning to the park where they were with Anya, with Yor realizing she fights for this family now, not just the "Garden."

My Prediction for Ch. 135: We are going to see a direct parallel to Chapter 2 (Camilla’s Party).

In Ch. 2, Yor arrived early, feeling insecure and out of place, until Loid arrived (covered in blood) and gave his famous monologue: "To endure such a harsh job... for the sake of another... I truly admire that." Those words saved Yor and gave her a reason to "propose" to Loid ❤️ Intuitively, she knew Twilight endured the same pain, and would be someone who would accept as she was.

Ch. 2

The Reversal: In Ch. 134, Loid is the one who felt insecure in a party full of SSS officials (mentally exhausted, facing an identity crisis/stomach ache, poor Loid 😰 ). I believe Yor will arrive and—perhaps without even knowing the full context—will praise Loid’s hard work, just like what Loid did without suspicion when he heard about Yor's past job as a masseuse 🥲 . Loid would, through Yor's words of affirmation and reminder of what Loid had told her in Ch. 2, feel unconditionally recognized for his effort to protect their world (including the disguise required for his job, just like what Yor is going through 😢 ).

For a man who grew up as an orphan and has been a "ghost" for years, being seen and admired for his labor (even the fake parts) is the healing Loid needs 😢 ...

Ch. 84
