I'll admit I had some assistance from AI chats (don't judge me) to see all the flaws between every or most Naruto harem fics. I asked what the realistic scenario would be if Naruto had a harem with these women specifically: Koyuki, Haruna, Toki, Tsukino, Shion, Shizuka, and Hinata, and all I got from it was political. Yes, I know it's one of the most or least cliche Naruto harem plots, but hear me out, this political marriage was only built because Naruto could have an old one-time thing/fling/flame with these women (minus Toki and Hinata), and after days of trying to figure out how not to make this the whole point of this fic, I remembered a Naruto x Kurotsuchi fic called Hōrō-sha by CschMan20 https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11797520/0/, and it was about Naruto taking a year- or more-long journey with Kurotsuchi, traveling village to village, and coming back to Konoha for Naruto to finally become Hokage.

I forgot what exactly they were doing traveling from village to village, but I'm taking inspiration from it instead of Kurotsuchi; it’s Shikamaru and Hinata joining Naruto.

My specific and final problem is coming up with this mission that'll complete Naruto's journey to become Hokage, have Shikamaru be his assistant, give Hinata the strength and courage to be Naruto's equal and future first lady of Konoha, and have those two be new elders of Konoha (idk if it works like that). And to also give Shikamaru and Hinata a purpose for this mission and make them actually feel like a team.

I have nothing for Shikamaru, so I kind of need assistance for that, and for Hinata's purpose, I'm thinking she overhears the clan elders talking about branding Hinata with the caged bird seal, and out of desperation and inwardly begging for Naruto to be her savior again, she joins the mission to expand her time and comes back a changed person and fights Hiashi and/or the elders for clan head.
