Can someone explain the hype to me please? Every time I drive by there’s a ton of cars in the drivethru. Not sure if I’m just not understanding the business model or if I’m just too old to get the appeal…..

New here - advice on coping emotionally

Hi everyone. I rescued my buddy Roy in January and he’s about 1 year old, chihuahua Italian greyhound mix. He started having seizures and is now on Keppra which helped for a couple months but now he’s having frequent seizures again so we are increasing his dosage. I also got a referral to neurology.

As someone who struggles with major anxiety and PTSD surrounding pets, medical issues, and death, I’m having a hard time. I feel so sad for him. I know he had a traumatic past that maybe caused head injury. It breaks my heart watching him have seizures and not being able to help in the moment. And then when he’s so scared after and doesn’t recognize me.

My previous rescue had heart disease and I lost her to heart failure last October. The year before that my best friend / roommate and I lost another chichi to heart failure. I’m so scared I’m going to lose Roy too soon too.

How do you cope with seeing them experience the seizures? And manage the anxiety around the unpredictability of it? I have a therapist but thought I’d ask here too.

Vomited all over nail salon

I had my tonsils removed on 8/18 so I’m currently day 12 post op (27F). Wanted to share a rough experience I had during what has otherwise been a normal recovery. I was not regularly taking the anti-nausea meds prescribed because they were for “as needed”, and I honestly hadn’t felt nauseous at all.

Then my friend asked me if she could buy me a pedicure on Day 4. I figured it would be nice to just sit there and have a pedicure and get out of the house since I had been bedridden until then. I brought applesauce, water, Gatorade and a white board to talk to people with. I planned to just relax and maybe close my eyes.

About 20 minutes in, I started to feel wildly nauseous. My nail technician was in the middle of doing my toenails. I thought ‘I just need to relax and close my eyes and it will pass’. Next thing I know I’m sweating and feel like I’m about to vomit. I really REALLY did not want to vomit because I knew it was going to hurt my throat like hell. I tried to hold back. It got to the point where if I held it in any longer I was going to vomit all over my nail technician. I got up and “ran” to the bathroom and made it just in time to projectile vomit all over the bathroom sink 4 times. And yes, it absolutely hurt my throat so badly.

I took my anti-nausea meds every 6 hours after that and never had the issue again.

I’d highly HIGHLY recommend taking your anti-nausea regularly EVEN if you don’t feel nauseous. It could come out of nowhere or sneak up on you, and you do not want to put your throat through any additional trauma if you can help it.

Everything else about my recovery has been fairly normal, but thought I’d share my main lesson learned.

Paranoid about hemorrhaging

I’m day 5 and have been doing everything I can to stay hydrated. Somehow through the pain I’ve managed to maintain a clear urine color. However, yesterday I got super nauseous and vomited A LOT at once. It hurt my throat so bad. I hadn’t been taking the anti-nausea they prescribed me because I wasn’t nauseous up until that moment. I’m scared that the vomiting incident has increased my chances of hemorrhaging when the scabs come off. Can anyone provide the best tips for preventing it? Is hydration just the only thing? I’m scaredddd.

27yo female - post op expectations - can I do laptop work?

Hi everyone, thank you for sharing your stories. I recently found this thread and it has been so helpful. I am having my tonsillectomy on Tuesday. I’m a 27 year old female and I exercise 4 days a week (not sure if that matters). I have no other health issues besides allergies. I haven’t had surgery as an adult before. I work from home on my laptop. What are the odds I’ll be able to read or do any computer work after a few days? Will I be able to go to an in person event 11 days post-op? I know everyone’s different, but just curious if I need to shift my expectations. I told my boss I’d probably be able to do some laptop work after a few days. I hate not being able to get things done… just curious if I’m going to be super out of it/ sleepy for 2 weeks

Mtn biking in Nashville

I recently started mountain biking in Knoxville but may have to move to Nashville for work. I’m bummed about losing the awesome AMBC mountain biking community here in Knoxville. What’s the scene like in Nashville? Are there accessible trails or do you have to drive a bit out of the city to get to any?
