High School Senior Going into College
Hey everyone,
I’m a high school student graduating soon and heading into college, and I’ve been trying to find a MacBook for school without getting completely ripped off. My budget isn’t huge, so I’ve mostly been looking at used/refurbished ones on Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and other sites, but honestly I have no clue how to tell what’s legit and what’s a scam.
I mainly need it for coding, notes, studying, and normal college stuff. Nothing super crazy.
What models should I actually look for in 2026? And what are the biggest red flags when buying used Macs? Also, is refurbished from places like Apple or Best Buy worth paying extra for compared to random sellers?
Would it be more worth in long term, to get a new air instead of an m1? if a new air then any discounts I can get as a student?
