I need opinions for my new MacBook Air

Should I get a MacBook Air of 15 inch or 13 inch, as I am in a med school? I wanted to buy a new MacBook Air, but I was confused over two things: screen size and storage. I currently have a M3 MacBook Air 13 inch, 1 TB storage. The storage filled up faster than I expected, and I don’t want to get into the mess of getting an external SSD anymore. I have currently like 2 SSDs of 1 tb each, one of which is totally filled, and the other one has been filled like 100 gb tho it’s not only my medical college stuff; it’s my old stuff from school and all, which I don’t want to delete, and I still have 4 years of my medical college left. So, which one should I take: 15 in ch or 13 inch and 2tb or 4tb

Blown away!!! By the M5 MacBook Air (Lifelong Windows User (Student))

INSANELY GOOD - summarized.

Long Story : :)
For reference, I came from an MSI GP66 12UGS. Absolute beast specs wise, but that thing is CHONKY. Heavy laptop, loud fans, and the charger is basically a weapon.

This MacBook Air is so light and silent it feels fake.
22-year-old engineering student here, been a Windows user my whole life. I remember watching all the M1 reviews years ago and thinking okay surely people are glazing this thing a bit.

Fast forward to now, I was debating between getting the Pro or the M5 Air. Saw so many reviews saying the Air is more than enough, so I was like why not, let me try it.
And yeah… now I get it.

I’ve been setting it up, installing apps, browsing, learning macOS, watching videos, just messing around for like 2 hours. I kept looking at the battery thinking it should be around 50% by now.

Bloody thing went down 6%.
SIX percent.
I was staring at the battery icon thinking nah this has to be bugged.

And the continuity with iPhone and iPad too… bro. GoodNotes on iPad, Mac beside it, AirDrop, copy/paste between devices, everything just works. All those times I tried so hard to sync stuff with my Windows laptop and now it’s just effortless.

I thought I was just buying a laptop but this feels like switching to a completely different way of using tech.
I swear I’m not an Apple employee promoting Apple lol😂

Is the MacBook Air still worth it after Apple’s latest price increase?

About 3 weeks ago, I posted here asking for advice on my first MacBook. You guys helped me narrow it down to the MacBook Air, and instead of rushing into such an expensive purchase, I spent the last few weeks researching the different configurations so I could make the best long-term decision.

Unfortunately, Apple has now increased MacBook prices, and the configuration I was planning to buy suddenly became a lot more expensive. Needless to say, I’m pretty gutted.

I’m not a power user. My workload is mostly web browsing, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, media consumption, video calls, light photo management, and general everyday tasks. However, I tend to keep my electronics for a very long time, so my biggest priority isn’t how the Mac performs today—it’s how well it’ll hold up after years of macOS updates and changing software requirements.

My current options are:

16GB RAM / 512GB SSD – AED 5,949
24GB RAM / 512GB SSD – AED 6,399
32GB RAM / 512GB SSD – AED 7,299
24GB RAM / 1TB SSD – AED 7,749

A little more context:
- This will be my first MacBook.
- I plan to keep it for as close to 10 years as realistically possible.
- I’ll be going through a major life transition soon, so I don’t expect to be buying another expensive laptop for a long time.
- I already own a 2TB external NVMe SSD, so I can use external storage if needed.

If you were in my position, which configuration would you choose today?
Would you:
- save the money and stick with 16GB?
- go for 24GB as the sweet spot?
- spend the extra for 32GB since RAM can’t be upgraded,
or prioritize the 1TB SSD instead?

I’d really appreciate hearing from both long-time Mac users and people who know the Apple ecosystem well.

If you’ve owned a MacBook for many years, what configuration did you choose, and do you wish you’d upgraded the RAM or storage?

If you’re someone who follows Apple hardware closely, do you think paying more for 24GB or 32GB RAM is genuinely worthwhile for a basic user who’s planning to keep the MacBook for as close to 10 years as possible, especially considering future macOS updates and changing software requirements?

P.S. I’m honestly a bit heartbroken because I spent weeks researching before making such a big purchase, only to have the price increase right before I was ready to buy. I’d really appreciate constructive advice rather than judgment. Thank you in advance.

i need help deciding what macbook to get

i currently have 1-2 years of highschool left, then i will take nursing for college [so not a course that requires heavy coding]. i was thinking of buying a 13" macbook air m5 since i already have an ipad and an iphone, and itll just be easier. the main issue im looking at is...how do i decided between the 8 core gpu vs. 10 core gpu AND 16 gb ram vs 24 gb ram. im planning on keeping this macbook for a very long time, just like the one i am using right now [macbook air 2017 w 8gb ram]. will there be a big difference if i buy the 16gb ram + 8 core gpu INSTEAD of the 24gb ram + 10 core gpu? [i also dont have a clue what those actually mean, and i dont know if its worth the money]

i think im only gonna be doing schoolworks and leisure activities on this macbook, so google docs, netflix, music, roblox maybe, social media, and just other stuff

so yeah my question is: mac air m5 with 16 gb ram + 8 core gpu OR mac air m5 with 24 gb ram + 10 core gpu

Going back to see how much was saved, buying my new M5 Pro laptop.

Curious as to how much most people saved on their MBP purchase prior to the increase. Reading all the different posts about how much people saved, it made me curious about my own purchase. For me, I got the 16" silver one, regular screen, with 64GB RAM and 2 TB HD. Bought mine for $3,439 at the start of April and the current price for the same setup now is $4,499! it was totally worth just buying it when I needed it, as many here have advised time and time again.

For those of you who custom configured yours, how much did you save?

Is macbook neo good as a first laptop?

Hi everyone, I posted a question a few days ago about the air m5 and m4 but unfortunately the m5 prices goes up so im planning to get m4 instead, but turns out every store within my reach doesn't have air m4 no more, they do have neo but idk if it can run things like games(roblox, indie, small games, maybe sims if I stretched it) and I also need it for my job, thats mainly why im planning on getting my first ever laptop. I heard they have like a bit of a weaker cpu or whatever idk im not tech savvy or understand those kinds of stuff. so i was just wondering if its actually good to run those things and for work

MacBook Pro showing service recommend at 87% Battery Health

Can someone please help me with this. I tried to use my MacBook after waking up, it was at 44% battery and I noticed it stuttering so I restarted it. Went to shower and found it off. It wasn’t turning on. So I plugged it in and then it went on but was completely drained and the state of charge is stuck at 1% also showing me that service error. It’s an M1 Pro 14inch

Anyone else carry their MacBook Air basically everywhere?

My M4 Air has pretty much become the one thing that never leaves my backpack. Whether I'm editing, writing, or just working somewhere else, it's always with me. I'm curious how everyone else carries theirs. Do you use a sleeve, a backpack, or just toss it in your bag?

If you want to see how I use mine in my everyday carry, here's the video! Not self promo only if yall want to

256 or 512gb?

Can't decide whether to buy 256 or 512gb macbook neo

I don't do much word processing, or have cause to store much big files on the hd, given that, would the 256 be ok?
I also can't work out, from the website, do both models have touch ID? I'm a voiceover user, in case it's obvious visually, I can't see. Just wanted to be clear about that

Thanks in advance

Left my m4 air cars rear glass😱

Hey everyone,

Stupidly left my M4 MacBook Air on the parcel shelf right under the rear window of my car for a whole day.

Good news: It was inside a hard shell case, inside a laptop bag, inside a white plastic bag.

It was in sleep mode. I brought it inside, let it cool down, and did some checks:

Screen: Ran a solid white test. Zero heat spots, no discoloration, looks perfect.

Battery: Maximum capacity is still at 100%, status says "Normal". Charges totally fine.

Physical: Trackpad clicks perfectly, chassis is flat, no signs of swelling.

Only thing: The area around the Esc / F1 keys gets a bit warm while charging, but I know it's a fanless M4 design and that's where the chip sits.

Since it passed all the vibe checks, did I miraculously escape any long-term damage or is there anything else I should test?

Thanks!

Just got an open box Air from Microcenter, good deal or no?

Picked up an open box MacBook Air M4 13" 24GB 1TB from Microcenter for $1130 + tax. I had originally purchased a M5 16GB 512GB from Costco last week for $950 + tax, but they cancelled it and I was pretty disappointed. But this M4 seems like as good a deal given the extra RAM and storage. And this one is actually the color I wanted which Costco didn"t have. Also, I can still get the Applecare in the next couple of days.

What do you guys think, good deal? My last Mac was an iBook I bought back in 2002.
