So, we all know how Steve, Nancy and Robin burned Vecna in S4. But he came back in S5. AND if we look closely, we see how at the first episode (i think) of S4, Eddie says Vecna is back in the D&D game, while everyone says how they already killed him.
What I am suggesting is... We had the answer for S5's entrance, we just did not care about it.
