Is Pencak Silat actually effective in a real fight?

Hey everyone,

I'm genuinely curious about your opinions on Pencak Silat as a martial art. Is it actually effective in a real street fight, or is it just a bunch of choreographed moves with no real application?

I'm not talking about the sport version with pads and rules—I mean the traditional stuff with knife work, flow, and continuous striking.

If you've trained in Silat, fought someone who does Silat, or even just sparred against it, I'd love to hear your honest take.

Is it legit, or is it overhyped?
