Stoner paraplegic problems

Thought I’d post something funny for once.

I was home alone on my day off with my cat sleeping in my lap. After hitting my vape a few times, I realized my phone was missing.

I wheeled back and forth around the house (small - 750 sq ft) for at least 20 minutes looking for my phone because I’m always paranoid that I’ll fall and won’t be able to call anyone. I grew increasingly more stoned and confused during my search.

Finally I realized the one place I hadn’t looked. Under my sleeping cat in my lap. Which is exactly where it had been the whole time 🥲

I unexpectedly got a full refund for my standing frame I’d already paid off

There was an insurance error and it turns out my standing frame was fully covered after all.

I paid $300 something a month for 12 months and had just paid my last payment last month.

I got a refund for over $3000 yesterday 🥳 Already called Numotion to confirm that it is the real deal.

What would you do with the money?

What kind of bras do you wear?

I’ve gained a lot of weight since my SCI 2 years ago, including in the chest area.

It has become uncomfortable to go braless even at home now that I am in a manual wheelchair. Even before my injury I hadn’t been fitted for a bra in years so I have no idea what size I wear.

What is the best bra that provides good support but also makes sense for someone sitting down all day? It doesn’t seem like underwire would be a good idea. Do I need to measure differently now that I’m in a wheelchair? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Pool exercises?

What kinds of exercises are helpful for aquatic therapy? I won’t have the help of a therapist since I’ll be going to a public pool.

I went for the first time last week and I was able to very slightly kick my legs out behind me while floating on my stomach. I was also able to do these kind of mini squats by putting my feet flat on the ground and holding on to the edge of the pool. Couldn’t stand all the way up but maybe like 3/4 of the way.

Any tips would be appreciated as I couldn’t find much online

I’m a little over 2 years post-injury and I’m really discouraged. I wanted to try to see a psysiatrist. It really seems like there are not any doctors that specialize in spinal cord injuries in my area in the US southeast. I thought I found someone good in my city with over 40 years experience but when I called she said she wasn’t seeing patients anymore and hung up in my face. I can’t make the trip to Shepherd Center or Shirley Ryan because it’s a little too far. We’re broke and have to work. Can anyone provide any tips on how to find someone good that I can actually reasonably visit?

After I got home from inpatient rehab at Shepherd Center and finished home health I did 6 months of outpatient physical therapy. But my PT eventually discharged me because I wasn’t making any progress. But the people at Numotion were wondering why they only tried to get me a standing frame and not KAFOs or something. Because I can move my feet and flex my leg muscles. There has to be a reason they thought I was a good candidate for those, right?

Am I just in denial about not being able to walk again? Is looking into this even worth my time? It’s just not fair that the only people who get any real treatment for SCIs are the ones who can afford to spend a fortune traveling and paying out of pocket, or paying thousands WITH insurance.
