Mounting a shifter dunno how to do it

Posted a while ago today nice built partners simrig but now we’ve hit a conundrum of how to mount a shifter. Anyone have any ideas? Gotta be about 27cm high to the left of the driver.

How can I attach..

Didn’t know how to name the title sorry..

So I’ve just built a racing simulator for my partner and at first only had to do it so the pedals and wheel was attached to the frame. Now we have bought a shifter we’re trying to figure out a way to attach it and preferably a way to have it so it can move back and forth and click into a desired place to make it easier to get in and out of it.

It has to attach to a base which is 2 pallet wood strips together which equals to about 1 1/2 inch thick wide to 3 inches tall.

We’re a bit restricted on space otherwise he would be able to get in the other side.

Is there a way we could engineer this? I’m pretty handy when it comes to making stuff like this from a basic idea but trying to figure things out from nothing is harder for me.

We was thinking putting the wooden block on rollers or something but it also has to withstand and not move with pressure of using the shifter.

Any help is greatly appreciated :D
Doesn’t seem I’m able to attach photos though.
