Gromit as a book cushion!

Gromit as a book cushion!

I thought I'd share this here now it's been gifted ... an appliqué book cushion (pocket in the front for the current book-in-progress).

And yes, the book title/author was shamelessly pinched from The Wrong Trousers 🤣

The Luggage: a(nother) Discworld quilt

This is my 2nd finished Discworld related quilt.

My challenge to myself this time was to come up with something that worked for The Luggage, from the stash and the scraps bag, no buying *anything*. I had to finnagle the backing with a diagonal seam to turn a 40x100" piece into a 57" square (first time I've tried that) but glad to report it worked well.

Pieced, appliquéd, machine embroidered and straight line quilted. 50x50" ish. I will concede the feet took me a week of evenings to complete and I may have developed PTFD (post traumatic foot disorder) from the experience 🤣

The Luggage

About three weeks ago I asked for help with an exact quote relating to the luggage having eaten a spellbook. This is why.

50x50" ish small sofa throw / lap quilt.

The feet were... a bit of a challenge but we got there.

B'hrian likes to provide moral support. Kind of. 🤣

Help please...Looking for an exact quote...

I know there is something written about The Luggage having eaten a spellbook (the octavo maybe?), sulked for a few days and spat it out again.

I think it's in Sourcery but I can't find it.

Can any of the PHD level Kevins help me out please? I need an exact quote to embroider onto a quilting project!

Entangled Quilt

Ok, so I found a kit at a good price on a destash site. I liked the look of the William Morris fabrics and the pattern so bought it for something to start over the 2 week break at Xmas.

Only when I got into the pattern did it dawn on me just how many HSTs there were in this thing.

I... have some foibles around HSTs. I dont own a bloc-loc ruler so for ease of trimming (not to mention bulk reduction at the points) I press the seams open. Except I also have a thing about open seams... open seams that flip under the presser foot irritate me soooo they all get starched *solid* so the damned things stay put. This does however mean they take considerably longer to do.

Because apparently I'm a masochist.

There were 330 of them in this, a number seared in my brain under "never again" 🤣

Although I have to concede the back did look rather pretty.

The long armer did a lovely E2E job on it. I was showing it to a colleague over Teams when my cat B'hrian decided that what I was holding up was actually *his* blanket fort thank you very much (picture 4).

This weekend some friends kindly agreed to stand on stepladders so I could get a pic of the whole thing.

Love the finished quilt. Zero plans to make another one 😂
