Dive Case Issues
I just received a new dive case and it has a card in the box that says to remove the waterproofing lens guard before installing into the dive case. I also read on Reddit that you need to remove the wind guard or the water seal cover for the mic before installing into the dive case.
I did these mods to the camera and it fit right into the case, nice and snug. However, this is not an acceptable situation to me, as ANY leak in the dive case will automatically damage the camera without the water seal of the lens cover.
With the lens cover in place, the chances of water damage to the camera are negligible because I would see the dive case leak and take the camera to the surface before the pressure got high enough to breech the native water seal of the camera.
Since I’m headed out on a dive vacation in 2weeks, I can’t wait on a newly designed dive case to be rolled out. I bought this camera to dive with so it would be nice to receive a square lens protector before going underwater with it in a dive case and betting it all on the case being sound.
