Hey Insta360, PLEASE make these solid instead of blinking!

Hey Insta360, PLEASE make these solid instead of blinking!

These lights (on the x5 camera and on the mini remote) slowly blink nothing/red while recording. No biggie, right? I exclusively record on a motorcycle, where every second I’m not looking at the road is dangerous. If at LEAST the remote button would just stay a solid red that would be so much better, then a single quick glance would verify my camera is recording, instead of a glance “oh it’s blank, is it on or not?” Then another glance “maybe I missed the red light… or maybe it’s off….” Then another glance “ah, red, it is recording” The very slowly flashing red light is incredibly frustrating and dangerous for me, a frustration that’s compounded by the fact that this equipment is supposedly designed for action sports. This is bad and dangerous design IMO

X6

Possibly a silly question, but I’ve just bought my first 360 camera (the X6), and I’d like to know if the camera itself is waterproof or if the Dive Case is required whenever using it in water?

Insta360 Cloud Hack for Loyal customers

I’m not here to be nice to insta360 I’m here to expose the truth and dirty work they do behind loyal customers back.

Hello everyone, my name is Gustavo I’M NOT SPONSORED ! I post reels on Instagram of crazy moments in the city of London. I recently created my YouTube channel. I also have been posting motorcycle moments when riding my motorcycle previously on several other social media platforms.
I am a loyal Insta360 user before the cloud services were even a thing.
I have so much footage I ran out of space on insta360 cloud and found myself frustrated that insta360 did not provide any more additional cloud plans after 2TB so recently I purchased the insta360 X6 and even posted a side by side comparison to the X5 on my channel! However the cloud storage limitation has been hindering me from making full review and comparison so I decided to create a new insta360 cloud account…

Immediately I purchased the insta360 1tb yearly plan and after that I connect my insta360 X6 and Ace Pro 2 only to find out that both cameras had a promotional extra 500tgb and 200gb yearly storage + 1 YEAR flexicare included… after a quick research I found that those promotions are only available to new cloud accounts which is a slap to the face because I paid £729 for the motorcycle bundle. Not only they no longer offer me no storage options after running out of space they also want me to pay for flexicare when it’s already included with the purchase of a insta360 camera! UNLESS you’re NOT a LOYAL CUSTOMER who previously owned a insta360 camera such as I who owned the X2, X3, X5 X4 air and X6.

THE BLUE PRINT STATES THESE BENEFITS ARE ONCE PER ACCOUNT AND CAMERA WHICH IS WRONG. These benefits should be once per device purchased! I’m a loyal reoccurring customer who spent thousands. Why SHOULDNT I earn free storage and flexicare with EVERY Purchase?!

They are hiding these benefits from SECOND time customers which should be a RIGHT of every customer be that new or regular SPECIALLY when advertised on the BUNDLE box!

So if you want to make the most of your camera create a new account and activate your benefits today! More details will be shared on my full review on YouTube and social media’s. Insta360 dirty ways needs to be exposed.

Inst360 X6 relesed before it was ready

Purchased the X6 on the day it was released, only to keep being more and more disappointed with the lack of features. Currently, the X5 is a much better option. There are exactly zero options available in the app menu for creative functions. (Shot Labs, Tiny Planet, Bullet Lab, Clone etc) They also hugely advertised the spatial capture update and that isn't currently available in North America.

The only things listed for the camera on the app are a few videos for how to operate and connect. I've contacted insta360 and they gave me the runaround. No estimated timeframe for the release of the creative features. They didn't even tell me if those features would be added or not. I just felt like sharing this information with anyone who might be purchasing the camera to use these features, so they don't waste their time and money.

Insta360 Mobile + Desktop App practicality feedback

Comparing App and Desktop applications, what do you guys think about the usability and practically of the system? What is missing and what needs to be improved. Open for discussion 🙏

To have a start, I will add my two cents here,

  1. Filters, Plate blur functions only available for Mobile. Hence, I have to export all of my 4k contents to mobile first. Each time I have to struggle with clearing internal mobile storage to match the export clip capacity. It is a headache.

  2. Exporting 4k footage with added filters and tweaks takes forever to export (using samsung flagship). Even through type-c to type-c connection its same as wifi.

  3. Aqua vision filters changing randomly. I don't have a way to keep my favorite filters to use with my future edits.

  4. Color filters doesn't have a way to reorganize or mark favorites. Everytime we have to scroll though whole set of filters.

  5. I think the main focus of the app should be how to improve user friendliness of the footage edits, rather than other nice to have features, ads.

When will the new firmware update for Luna Ultra be released?

  1. Horizontal camera movement results in stuttering and choppy footage. This issue occurs at 4K 30fps with a shutter speed of 1/60.
  2. When will fixes and optimizations for basic features be rolled out, such as grid lines, touch‑screen accidental taps, and canceling recording?

The X6 Ai "auto" edit feature done in real time. It is NOT what you think it is, and frankly is a let down. [FULL VIDEO EXPERIENCE - REQUESTED CONTENT]

In THIS POST https://www.reddit.com/r/Insta360/comments/1vr2jy8/comment/p4ck2v5/?context=1&screen_view_count=5&ext-referrer=DIRECT I asked you what you would like me to test from the X6.

Someone wanted to see the AI director feature.

This feature was HEAVILY marketed by the fake commercials the influencers showed us as some sort of MIRACLE feature.

Video titles claiming it puts the camera on 'lazy mode' for example heralded it as a miracle.

I will let you decide, and this is how it would REALLY WORK after you filmed an entire day, and then opened up your camera and device.

It was bound to happen...

So I got off my bike this morning and found my selfie stick hanging by a thread. I was lucky I didn't lose the camera (X5). The last Pic shows where I have it mounted (in "drone" mode). I guess it's time to get the larger mount.

X6 - One step forward, two steps back.

I have been filming my travels with Insta cameras since the X3. Since then every new model got slightly better. Higher resolution, better sensors, faster software. This is why i instantly bought the new generation which arrived one day before leaving for a 3 weeks holiday where i will film with it a lot.

One week in i'm not really happy and i wish i had brought the X5 instead. Picture quality seems to be a bit better but the overall handling is super annoying.

- No more buttons on the backside but just on the side. Wanna film a public space for your travel blog without causing to much trouble or people getting annoyed? Good luck with hat, the display will always face outside.

-Only one Quick capture button. Wanna quickly turn on the camera and choose the mode to film in at the same time? Bad luck, three buttons exist, but only one can be used for quick capture.

-The thouch screen is unusuable. Maybe some Basejumpers or someone can make use of it, i can't. The easy to reach buttons on the back are really missing.

- Quick capture turns on really fast, it tends to hang though. Ended your shot too quickly and want to record again? Good luck, the cam now needs 10 seconds pause.

-Switching modes only on the touchscreen ia horrible, see above. Lacking the seconde Quick Capture button, you want to switch to one sensor frontal in 4k? Good luck with that, the touchscreen only function wants you to press very exact ond reaaally hard to work. Good luck pressing that button blind and quickly like before.

-The software got a couple of updates as well. No more list view for clips. No more clip control directly on the keyframes. Congratulations, you have now made your software way worse.

Sorry for the sour tone, one week in i wished i had brought the X5 instead. Handling was/is a dream compared to this designer mess for people who never actually film dozens or hundreds of hours with those cams like, well, me.

More than 3 weeks dodging a refund: Cancelled order immediately, but Insta360 refuses to provide the transaction ID (ARN). Anyone else experience this?

I'm posting to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific refund stalling tactic from Insta360 support and how you finally got your money back.
Here is my situation:
Order Cancelled Immediately: I placed an order for over $800 directly from their online store, but I cancelled it almost immediately. The package never even shipped out.
Internal "Approval": Their support system shows the refund was supposedly "Approved" internally over three weeks ago.
Dodging the Transaction ID: The money has not hit my credit card. I’ve been aggressively following up with their chat support for more than a week specifically asking for the Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) or the gateway payment trace ID so my credit card company can actually locate the missing funds.
Stalling Tactics: Every single day, support gives me the exact same copy-paste response: "We will follow up with our finance team and get back to you." They outright refuse to provide the ID, and a rep even explicitly told me not to initiate a chargeback because it would "prolong the processing time."
It feels like they are deliberately running out the clock so that I miss my bank's dispute window.
My questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone else had Insta360 claim a refund was paid but then refuse to provide the actual transaction ID when pressed?
  2. How did you finally get it resolved? Did posting here help get the attention of higher-tier support, or did you just have to force a chargeback through your bank?
Thanks in advance. I'm incredibly frustrated and just want my money back.

X6 can make images too large for Facebook ;-) "Oops" error.

Updated description: "Some X6 360 photos get rejected by Facebook" perhaps.

UPDATE: I have had images 74MB that upload just fine, then ones that are 67MB and 71MB that fail 100% of the time (personal page, group, or business page). I have tried Chrome browser as well. File size may have nothing to do with the failures. These are 15520x7760 images from the X6. I have renamed the two images that fail for me and placed them with the others in case you want to try them (maybe a problem with my Meta account):

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/2959i0mxsdj5z5z1phwz7/AJDu4cdojp_gCDzBAMbliww?rlkey=zd9c0gq6ldfx5h6p2k1mtj5t2&dl=0

Apparently, the 120MP image sometimes is too large for Facebook. I uploaded about ten images and two of them get rejected. I have one at 56MB that works, then one at 67MB that is rejected.

To get them uploaded, I use Graphic Converter (Mac) to compress them down to a smaller file size.

Searching for the largest file Facebook accepts shows me these should work -- but even Facebook's own help does not specifically address 360-degree photos where the width is 2X the height. Perhaps that is part of it.

It gives the annoying "Oops" error.

Insta360 Studio desktop app update has baffling changes (v6.0.2 on MacOS)

What in the world were they thinking?

  • There's no longer a list view, so I can't see the capture date/time.
  • It resets your view every time you switch photos. I'm trying to compare several similar photos but it's facing the wrong direction every time I click between them.
  • Text throughout the entire interface is truncated unnecessarily ("Camera Me...", "Oldest to Ne...", "Newest to Ol...", "File Proper...", "Clip Mana..."), and you can't resize the panels to avoid this. I'm on a 27" 4K display.

X5 and Two Mic Pros

I know that the X5 (and all other insta 360 cameras) only allow 1 mic via Bluetooth. The mic air would allow for 2 mics via the transmitter but you had to do some tricks.

With the Mic Pro (new mic with the image screen on front) boasts the ability to connect up to 4 mics (transmitters) to the new beefed up receiver. But they never showcase that on any of their own cameras. Especially not the X4, X5, or now X6.

The receiver is kind of bulky and seems to plug in via usbc to things like phones and professional cameras like a Canon ect. But does this work with the 360 cameras? I like the idea of having my 360 camera out in the wild but being able to capture good audio from only two people. The ability to do vlog / interview style content on the go with the great noise suppression seems awesome but I cant find ANY information on this.

Any help?
