General Advice from Marine Engineers

I don't mind physical work, and I'm willing to accept that the first few months may be difficult. In your all experience, does a reasonably healthy young person normally become physically accustomed to engine-room work after some months, or are the physical demands something that remain exhausting throughout the career?

Need Advice

I'm from somewhere in Jamshedpur i can't reveal.

2 months ago mere parents ne Arka jain mei btech CSE mei admission karva diya and abi classes start vi nhi hui ha toh meine coding karna chalu kia but i don't like that much.

Before admission when I proposed the idea of doing Btech Mechanical then GME(Graduate marine engineering in merchant Navy engine side) they said if you want you can but "you have to work in hot temperature , As parent we will not take risk, rest is upon you"

So i chose what they like "Btech CSE" now I want to change to mechanical but whenever I want to tell my dad my mind says "What If this is your another mistake of changing branch" and if i don't change branch again my mind says "what if you endup in corporate politics, low paying jobs, very very intense competition "

So my mind plays two side game

Some things I like about Navy and some about corporate life I saw pros and cons of both careers but very scared to choose which path gives me less regret.

My background:

I'm from middle class, Father in Tata motors and have a elder sister who will do mca

Please guys a jamshedpurian help me

Choosing b/w Software and Merchant Navy

I have a Query
Should i go for Btech CSE from Arka Jain University local college Jharkhand placements are 40-60% OR Btech Mechanical from same college and then GME(graduate marine enigneering) in some reputed company. i don't know about my interest. i'm very confused i don't know which one i could survive. i already took a drop but ended in my hometown college but i learned python too and i able to grab it but went blank when seeing question.

i literally have convo with a cousin with 13+ yrs exp. in IT field he said if you love cse very much then only go for cse other wise Navy is better.
and a navy sailor(chief oficer) my another cousin he said take cse, they have better work life balance
fear is : i end up laid off in CSE and also very tough job market for freshers and in navy main fear is if i will too tired to work in machinery then escape route is next to difficult as Mechanical degree + GME sums up loan to 17 lakh(6+7+8% interest for 8 years) cuz the experience you gain in ship is nothing even close to what real industries want.
in both the cases further options is either Mtech or MBA from reputed foreign university but paying off loans will take 8 years

If you Guys can Help me out i'd appreciate !
