GA is so much fun in VR!
I might have found myself a new addiction!
FM 2009 Stuff
Greetings,
For some reason, at least once a decade I like to install an old FM (or CM) and get my fix of football management. Last time it was Championship Manager 01/02 with a custom 93/94 database that warranted multiple hours of fun and felt like cheating, since I had the "foreknowledge", more so, the database made sure to include all the folks that would eventually make it as legends in the early 2000s like Frank Lampard, Gerrard, Michael Owen, Alessandro Nesta, Alessandro Del Piero, Trezeguet, etc. It didn't take long until my Liverpool savegame had an unbeatable squad that would absolutely trounce everyone and collect trophies like it was nothing.
This time I decided to download Football Manager 2009 again, since I didn't get to play that one much back in the day because my computer could barely put up with it (and now it doesn't even use 5% of my system in total LOL). Thing is, most stuff for Football Manager 2009 is currently lost media since all the links are dead. I could not find any logo packs, tactics, nada. Fortunately, it turns out using a FM 22 pack worked great for team logos at least, but other than that it's as barebones as it gets as far as league logos and original names go.
Does anyone happen to have these old logo packs somewhere in their hard drives still? Or some old tactics, perhaps? I'd love to exploit the match engine a little bit. Was trying to get some tips from ChatGPT and Claude (I know, definitely not the best source but alas), and I sort of managed to recreate an old op tactic but it doesn't work as efficiently as the original one was advertised to (and the link for it is completely dead, unfortunately).
Despite FM 2009 clearly showing its age, it's still as fun as it used to be back then, and I felt right at home with all the players from back when I was just a lad. Brought back many memories from the Champman, PES 6, etc. days. Plus, it's a lot faster than newer FMs as far as setting everything up and going through the calendar since it strikes a very good balance between complexity and simplicity. Not too deep, not too shallow, just about perfect, like if CM 01/02 had a widescreen UI, a barebones 3D match engine, and some tweaks here and there but it still felt a lot like the old CMs.
Thanks in advance,
