Olivine-rich Lherzolite ‘Volcanic Bomb’
This Olivine-rich Lherzolite, known as a ‘volcanic bomb’ as the olivine is formed deep in the earth’s mantle, and is pushed up via volcanic action- this piece (along with its other half) was expelled during a volcanic eruption in the Almadinah Volcanic complex in Saudi Arabia long ago. It rained back down to earth and hardened into a crust covered nodule, which was eventually retrieved from the desert in modern times and cut to reveal the crystals within
