We are excited to present the first look at our ZS co-op mod! I wanted to have a video but that will have to wait as my capture settings are jacked and I couldn't get one, next time! Below is a quick view of where we stand with the mod and its completion!
- Full steam compatibility, you will invite your partner through steam and they will join your lobby.
- We have many different options you can select to customize your experience with this mod, all of which can be accessed from the co-op option in the main menu as seen in the screenshots! This allows you to tune the game to your liking.
- You will get a notification when either one of you has chosen the map you want to deploy to so you can sync up and deploy to the same map at the same time, once both parties have selected the raid auto launches as usual.
- As you can see from the screenshots you can go into a downed state if a pre-determined set of circumstances happened and you are able to be revived by your teammate. Only once per raid, if you die again its quick extract back to lobby. You return with 30% health ready to get back in the fight. if your teammate isn't near you, enemies will show no mercy and execute you, (at least that's what we want to happen, well see if we can get that one).
- You are able to bring items in and drop them for a teammate to help with quests or gear, and you can drop found in raid items or gear for them as well. Now I know what you're thinking, ill just set it so if I die I keep my gear, drop it for my buddy then go die and BAM, duping achieved. Well we are working to prevent that, the game will already be a little more chill with a buddy, plus you're all stalkers hardened by the zone, you'll live without duping a few kits! :)
- With that said, we have two settings on how to deal with death and looting your partner (yes you can do that). If you have all gear set to delete on death, which is the proper way to play this mod. It will be on your partners body for you to grab and bring it back to him next raid (just like Tarkov). But if you have it set so that you keep all items on death, then only what you had found in raid will appear on your body, to once again avoid duping items.
- All weapon sounds, shots, tracers, grenades, healing, drinking animations, lasers and flashlights will be synced so that each of you can see what the other is doing at all times.
- There is a positioning system that tells you where your partner is at all times, unless they are inside, your stalker wasn't able to get the GPS signal working in the zakov buildings, by design, cant know where they are at all times ;)
- We have added a little heartbeat monitor at the top left of the screen so you can always have an idea of what sate your partner is in, if its red and beating fast they are in trouble, green and beating fast they are sprinting around, green and beating slow? they are being a lazy bum, tell them to get back to work! All of these settings can be turned on and off in the co-op mod menu along with several other cool options.
- On the more technical side, we are about 80% complete on syncing enemy positions (this is the crux of the entire mod and the hardest challenge to overcome). But I am pleased to say we cracked that nut and are now just bug fixing and tweaking to make the experience a polished and non immersion breaking one. With that said its very likely it will never be perfect, but we are shooting for 90% and expecting some hilarious screenshots for the other 10%
- Clock time is Synced upon entering a raid so you aren't raiding in the day while your buddy is in pure darkness and death without nods.
- Quests are separate so each have your own questline that will not interfere with the other, as are stashes and trader rep. In addition each stalker can run their own difficulty options, but we recommend syncing them for a better experience.
- Things that are planned but will most likely not be in 1.0. Hub integration, other mod integrations, 3-4 player co-op, other cool things and stuff.
- We will be creating a discord for post launch bug support and of course, community ideas to make the mod even better. Thanks to the devs and how they built the game we've been able to implement some cool stuff and we would love to hear your ideas, more on that soon!
- Estimated time until we launch?????........... Welp soon hopefully, we are still in the bug fixing phase, after that we at least need to test this on each map and we had to start new accounts so that's going to take a little time, I don't want to give an exact time so we don't have a deadline we cant meet. We have both put in close to 75 hours each on this mod but we are hoping to have it running and in all of your hands very soon, so you can have as much as as we are! And be able to walk right up to Lazar with your buddy and quote the BurntPeanut himself "MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR GOD MR SILLY, CUZ YOURE SEEING HIM RIGHT NOW!!!!"
