A quick PSA on why "Global Version" can be a lottery (Realme GT 7 eSIM trap)
A quick PSA on why "Global Version" can be a lottery (Realme GT 7 eSIM trap)
Just wanted to share a nuance about regional global models that caught me off guard. I picked up a global Realme GT 7 (RMX5061) expecting full eSIM support based on all the spec sheets and reviews online. Booted it up, and the eSIM menu was completely missing.
After doing some digging, my unit is an Indonesian regional variant ("Dibuat di Indonesia" on the box). The seller technically didn't lie—it’s a genuine global build with full Google integration, multi-language support, and proper 4G/5G bands. However, Realme completely stripped the physical eSIM hardware for the SE Asian market to save on costs. Only the European retail models actually get it.
Long story short: if you are buying from gray market importers and eSIM is a dealbreaker for you, make sure to ask the seller for a photo of the box sticker before paying. If you spot Indonesian words like Telepon Seluler or Warna, you're getting a physical-dual-SIM-only phone.
