Is carrying a second phone still worth it, or do apps like iPlum and OpenPhone make more sense?

I'm curious what people are doing these days. A few providers I know still carry two phones , one personal and one for work. Others say that's unnecessary now and just use a second number app instead. I've looked at OpenPhone, iPlum, and a few others, but it's difficult to tell how they compare in real world use, especially for healthcare where privacy and patient communication matter more than just having another phone number. For those who have tried both approaches, did you end up going back to two physical phones, or has a business phone app been enough? I'm less interested in feature lists and more interested in what actually made your day-to-day workflow easier.
