[Fully Lost] High quality "Ah, L'Amour" version with commentary that Don Hertzfeldt uploaded to his YouTube channel premium membership section a few years ago
A few years ago, Don Hertzfeldt uploaded a high quality, remastered version of "Ah, L'Amour", one of his first shorts, with added commentary at the beginning, to his "memberships" tab on his YouTube channel.
I was going to attempt to download it back in the day, but YouTube made it painfully difficult to do so. Then Don had to shut down his premium memberships due to issues with YouTube itself, which was a pity, and I could never track it down again.
I tried search for it on all of the other usual possible sources, without success.
Not only this upload was the highest quality version available of "Ah, L'Amour" by a mile (most other uploads are 240p), but Don's commentary at the beginning was beautiful and insightful.
The reason why I believe this is something worth preserving is that it's, basically, the best existing version of the first published work of one of the most important directors of the 21st century. And while he kinda disowned it a bit in recent years due to its content, the commentary recontextualizes it in an interesting way.
I hope someone happens to have it, I would hate for it to be lost media.
