[Found] Empress Chung (2005) Japanese Screener DVD + HQ Remaster available on Archive.org

Hello people who are likely to be fans of SpongeBob!

You know how late last year a full copy of Empress Chung showed up for sale, for it to be bought, restored and uploaded to YouTube, only for it to be taken down due to copyright. The uploader, Fileast堂, was saying in the comments that the original screener DVD and a remastered version would eventually be uploaded onto the Internet Archive.

Well, looks like that day has come. Both the screener and a high-quality remaster were uploaded to the site a few days ago under this account:

https://archive.org/details/@sequoiabansheeboogers

There's also a sampler disc containing stuff from the film that was uploaded as well.

Seems like this went under the radar, as from what I can tell, nobody's talked about this recent upload.

[partially lost] Live Programing on FX in the 1990s

So I'm guessing this is probably lost, but I figured I'd see if anyone else remembers this broadcast or if anyone has had any luck finding similar programs. Back in the mid90s when the FX network was new, they used to have live segments. I seem to remember, especially on the weekend nights, these would be on between movies and whatever was on. In these segments they had musicians, D list celebrities, and other people in an apartment set playing party games and other mindless things. I remember one night Sherman Hensley from the Jeffersons was on and did this really sad dance at the end to Del Amitri's "Roll to Me". It must have been around 1995. I've looked at both Hemsley's IMDB and searched around for Del Amitri performances and haven't been able to find anything. Honestly, the whole thing feels like a fever dream.

[Partially Lost] Roxana Vargas' blog

Roxana Vargas was a Venezuelan journalism student who was a patient of one of Venezuela's most well-known psychiatrists, Edmundo Chirinos. During one of their sessions, which included sedation, he raped her. Roxana found out later on and was determined to expose him, to no avail. Eventually, she got into a relationship with Edmundo, which I would assume is a form of Stockholm Syndrome, while still threatening to expose him. This dynamic eventually led to him murdering her in July 2008. During all this, she wrote on her blog about this relationship, but this blog got deleted shortly after the news of her murder. This recent video is how I found out about this story. I marked this post as partially lost due to the video containing snippets of the blog.

[found] SpongeBob Re-Hydrated released on the official SpongeBob instagram account part of their from the vault series.

From part 9 of their “from the vault” series and the description says: “Lost media you say?”.
We’ve had the animation without the audio and Nickelodeon through the SpongeBob Instagram account just drops the full version with the missing audio.
I wonder what other currently lost media the official SpongeBob Instagram account will share on their “from the vault” series.
Not gonna lie, I kinda forgot this existed mainly because I’m more into the lost songs search that have been getting found recently like Ulterior Motives and it’s original master tape the booth brothers recently found and the formerly mysterious song known as “Subways of Your Mind” being identified and the band regrouping and releasing their other tracks.

[Partially Lost] Big Green Rabbit - PBS Show

Big Green Rabbit was a PBS show that first aired in 2007, and had reruns as recently as 2013. It mainly focused on education about nutrition and the environment. I remember watching the show in 2009 in Virginia since it was airing on the only channel the TV in my hotel would pick up. Recently, I was interested to see if anything remained of the show, and I saw that the show was now declared lost media, with only 2 full and 2 partial episodes remaining of the show's 13 episode run. I was wondering if anyone else remembered the show and had any more information on the show.

[Fully Lost] Dragged By Gigi (2008) (Pilot / Unaired Reality Drag Series?)

Does anyone else remember the partially lost 2008 reality show “Dragged By Gigi”? (possible lost VH1-style pilot)

Dragged By Gigi was supposedly an unfinished 2008 reality competition series hosted by Vegas drag nightlife personality Gigi Couture. The series followed aspiring drag queens, club performers, and self-described “scene celebrities” competing in nightlife and image-based challenges across Las Vegas. It was NEVER officially a VH1 show, but it clearly attempted to imitate the chaotic tabloid-era energy of Rock of Love, RuPaul's Drag Race, and late-2000s celebrity reality television before drag competitions became mainstream.

From what’s been pieced together over the years, the show was produced by a small indie company connected to several failed VH1/E! development projects around 2007-2009. Filming allegedly took place during summer 2008 in off-strip Vegas casinos, rented mansions, hotel suites, and nightclub venues.

What makes this whole thing fascinating is how messy the production apparently became..

♡ one contestant allegedly believed the show was going to MTV ♡
old MySpace bulletins from 2008 apparently had cast members bragging about “being on TV soon.” then after production collapsed everyone abruptly stopped mentioning the show completely.

♡ cast members started disappearing online afterward
this added SO much mystique later on. several queens tied to the show deleted MySpaces, abandoned stage names, or completely stopped acknowledging the series existed.

♡ the network lost interest almost immediately ♡
the show was allegedly pitched around to cable networks after filming, but executives reportedly thought it was “too mean,” “too confusing,” and “visually incomprehensible.”

♡ the finale may have completely collapsed

♡ Gigi Couture allegedly threatened to quit multiple times
old gossip threads claimed Gigi HATED how producers were editing her and thought the show was becoming “too exploitative.” one crew member supposedly described the set as “hostile by episode 3.”

♡ production allegedly ran out of money
this is probably the most believable theory tbh. the sets looked cheaper as episodes went on, and ppl noticed later challenges were mostly filmed in hotel hallways/pool areas instead of clubs.

♡ there may have been substance issues behind the scenes ♡
this rumor gets repeated a LOT but nobody knows if it’s true. several old posts reference contestants and crew “partying too hard” during filming weekends.

♡ there are claims Gigi disappeared for nearly a full filming day ♡
according to old gossip posts, production had to stall contestants at the hotel pool for hours while trying to contact her.

♡ the “winner” may have changed multiple times
one rumor says producers kept swapping frontrunners depending on who caused the most drama during filming.

♡ the surviving footage online is apparently incomplete
people who watched the ORIGINAL uploads swear certain confessionals + elimination speeches are missing now. some clips online today look noticeably shorter than older versions.

♡ several contestants allegedly knew each other BEFORE filming
this fueled conspiracy theories that rivalries were pre-planned. one pair of contestants supposedly had old MySpace comments together dating back to 2007.

The surviving material online today is extremely fragmented. A lot of original uploads were deleted years ago..

A few former crew members have anonymously claimed that rough cuts and raw footage still exist on old hard drives owned by ex-production staff, but no evidence has ever surfaced publicly.

Honestly, even if it was just another failed late-2000s reality pilot, the mystery around it has become more interesting than the show itself. The whole thing feels like a cursed relic from the MySpace/tabloid era of reality TV ♡

[Archival] The Dutch Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid will make more than 700000 radio and tv shows searchable from next week

I wanted to make this subreddit aware of a potential new source to find back lost media, mostly relevant to Dutch Media and Dutch users.

The Dutch Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid is going to make more than 700,000 radio- and tv shows searchable from next week and open them up to the public which possibly, or hopefully, might contain media which nobody else archived: https://www.beeldengeluid.nl/schatkamer

This might even be interesting for foreign media which might be archived in some form on Dutch tv, so we'll need to see what will be in it.

The archive is intended for a Dutch audience and will contain a database of Dutch shows, so this will be most relevant for any Dutch lost media mentioned on this sub or in general which was not preserved by households but might be preserved in this archive.

Some posts which might be checked to the archive next week:

[talk] Discussion about overdone topics...

Do y'all ever feel as if a piece of media has gotten a little too much attention? I mean, I get it, it's lost media, of course people would want to discuss them in hopes of shedding more light onto them until it gets found, but the reason I ask this is because I feel like there is a very popular topic that, even though has been proven to be non-existent, still gets brought up in pretty much every video revolving around lost media, that being"A Day with SpongeBob SquarePants".

I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of backlash for saying that, but I'm sure most of everyone in the lost media community has heard the story. If you somehow haven't, it's basically a fake mockumentary about SpongeBob trying to regain his popularity as a franchise. It's a fun and interesting piece, no doubt about it, but you would think after all the time it has been since it's been debunked, people would lose interest in finding and mentioning it and all we would have left is fan-made assets to the film that could have been.

Please take this post with a grain of salt, for I'm not a real professional at searching for or discussing Lost Media, but for me personally, to hear about a topic over and over again years after it has been proven to not exist feels like fluff.

Do you have any topics you think could be deviated from in the future? Let's talk!

[Archival] Children's television workshop end cards. (?)

So there is still 52 episodes lost of Sesame street. At the end of the episodes from 1969 to like 1980 something, they would have the muppets and or humans pose with the logo of the show and then of course with the then logo of the Children's television workshop (now know as Sesame workshop today.. I want to know is if there's any lost pictures, or have we actually seen all of them. It just bugs me that even though there's small gaps that there's still gaps of this. Is there any way that I can be sure completely?

Littlest Pet Shop "Three Journals" [fully lost]

There was an lps series on youtube from like 10 years ago about a "loser girl" named Tangy played by lps 156. She becomes friends with a popular girl named Maddie played by lps 77. Then Tangy's cousin (lps 21) comes over, he's super into scuba diving? He drowns near the end of the series and the girls save him after he doesn't come home. During the series, the main girl Tangy really likes some guy, i think his name was Zack, played by husky 341. But he stands her up on a date. There's a mean girl played by lps 816 that becomes nice at the end. In the middle of the series, Tangy has a dream where she's opera singing on a table that Maddie and the cousin is trying to carry down the stairs.

This was a really popular series in the lpstube community when it came out, if you search "lps the three journals" on Google images, you'll find fan art of it.

The creator of these videos was named Maddie Carr I believe. She has stated that she deleted these videos due to embarrassment from school bullies since she was in middle school when she posted these videos. She's already searched all her devices for these videos and can't find them anywhere. It's forever lost.

[FULLY LOST] 1999 indie movie "Films That Suck" starring Read Ridley & Andy Morris

Films That Suck (1999) was a mockumentary-style indie movie with a very widely unknown cast and a small cult following. It follows Andy Morris (playing himself - and I should mention here that all the evidence I’ve seen on various sites points to him being the same Andy Morris who voiced Cicero in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim) as a reporter sent to Nashville, Tennessee to profile filmmaker Read Ridley (also playing himself) before the mainstream media can get to him first. The tagline was “The Movie Sundance Doesn’t Want You To See”. There is an IMDB page (linked here) where the synopsis is widely available, as well as a Plex page (here) where you can also find the same synopsis worded differently. This movie has no poster/cover art, no screenshots, and no clips, and the full film is nearly completely lost. I say nearly only because I still have hope that it exists on an old CD-ROM somewhere, or possibly on an old torrent website (though I do not encourage piracy and would like the search to remain legal).

Search results may indicate that a copy is available to watch on Plex, but as of making this post there is no page on Plex that allows viewing this movie, just metadata that says it exists.

I have been very thorough in searching indie/cult movie sites that specialize in cataloguing movies from the late 90s, and each time I have come up empty. The movie synopsis does come up with a Google search (examples that work: Films That Suck movie 1999, Read Ridley movie Films That Suck), but the movie itself remains missing.

To be especially thorough and give anyone willing to help search a headstart, here are more sources I’ve gathered:
This Reddit post made four years ago by u/Jimp_lord in which he talks about also trying to find this movie, as well as the link to the now-defunct previous distributor of Films That Suck, SightSound Technologies, which the user links to in his post. SightSound used to have Films That Suck available on a pay-per-download basis in the 2000s, though the page has been a blank slate since the company's closure. Here is the movie’s TMDB page, made in 2017, though still with no trailer, no list of where to watch, and no cover art.

At this point, the most promising lead would be if someone has an old SightSound download of the movie, CD-ROM backup, or archived file from the late 90s/early 2000s. Since the movie *was* seemingly distributed digitally, there’s a good chance copies once existed/still exist outside physical media. Any and all leads or extra details found will be greatly appreciated.

Windows 1.0 was giving developer releases and the oldest found version is DR5 which the other developer releases have not been found, due to it being made on October 31st 1984 and the first mention of it occuring on the Fall 1983 Codex issue, leading me to believe that the other developer releases do exist but may just be lost to time, requiring dos 2.x or 3.0 to run this also leads me to believe the other developer releases run on MS-DOS 1.x the possibility of these other developer releases are highly low but not impossible

Twenty One PIlots Roblox Concert Experience [partially lost]

Hey everyone,

For the past 5+ years Ive been archiving Roblox concert events and trying to preserve as much of Roblox event history as possible before it disappears forever.

One of the biggest missing pieces I’ve been hunting is the lost Twenty One Pilots Concert Experience from 2021.

Back in 2022, I managed to find this uncopylocked Roblox place:
https://www.roblox.com/games/7434505265/Twenty-One-Pilots-Concert-Experience

Unfortunately it only contains the lobby and some leftover scripts, so it doesn’t help much with rebuilding the actual concert experience itself.

Around the same time, I randomly got in contact with someone on Discord who gave me a decompiled version of the game that was apparently grabbed while the event was live. The problem is that the file has NO scripts included, meaning most of the actual event logic is missing completely.

After digging through the files for years, heres what i currently know:

  • The “Saturday” and “Heathens” sequences are completely missing from all copies
  • Internally, those animations were codenamed “Coral” and “Wheat” so their names would be like Coral_TJ_vSOMETHING because other anims were named in a similar way like Teal_TJ_v047 for Stressed Out etc.
  • If a FULL decompiled RBXL/RBXLX with scripts exists, it would likely contain references to all missing assets, animation data, triggers, timings, effects, camera anims, etc.

My friends from the Roblox Concert Archive have also preserved everything i sent them and pretty much everything else they could find online:
http://concert-archive.com/

Huge respect to them because without that project, a lot of Roblox concert history would already be gone. But sadly, none of the missing files we need are currently archived there either.

I’ve already tried contacting developers from Roblox Arena Events multiple times and haven’t gotten any responses, but that would only give me the animations and the event would still be pretty much lost since it would be pretty hard to fully re script it and the other assets which are missing would remain lost.

At this point, I’m searching for ANY of the following:

  • A decompiled RBXL/RBXLX of the live event WITH scripts
  • Developer backups
  • Old exploit/decompile archives (like files decompiled with Synapse X or whatever)
  • Animation IDs
  • Asset IDs
  • Event Sequencer scripts
  • Motion capture files
  • Literally any lead at all that would lead me to find the decompiled game file with scripts

If nobody has the Roblox files themselves, another possible lead could be the motion capture source files used for the performances. If anyone wants to help, please consider reaching out to people credited here:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16073556/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cst_sm regarding the original FBX/motion capture data for the performances, mainly Saturday and Heathens.

Last year I finally managed to recover large parts of the Lil Nas X Concert Experience after searching for it nonstop from 2020 all the way to 2025, so I know these files CAN still exist somewhere on an old drive, archive, Discord server, or forgotten backup.

IMO this event is important in Roblox history (and other virtual concert history in general) and it sucks seeing it slowly become lost media.

If you have ANY information at all, please comment here, DM me on Reddit, or contact me on discord: username cactusjack1991

Even tiny leads could help.

Thank you!

Check out my other post as well from the r/twentyonepilots subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/twentyonepilots/comments/1sdee9p/top_roblox_concert_archival/

[unreleased media] Missing episodes of "The Samsonadzes" (Georgian Simpsons) – including a crossover where Gela speaks to Homer Simpson on Skype

Background Hi everyone. I’m a lifelong resident of Tbilisi, Georgia, and I’m looking for help tracking down the missing episodes of The Samsonadzes (სამსონაძეები). Aired around 2009–2010 on the channel TV Imedi, the show gained international internet fame for being a blatant, CGI-animated "Georgian Simpsons" clone. While international audiences know of the show, very few have actually tried to archive it. Right now, if you search YouTube or Georgian streaming sites, you can only find about 13 to 15 episodes. However, the official production run was closer to 18–20 episodes, meaning a significant portion of the show is currently lost media.
The "Lost" Skype Crossover Episode I was about 5 years old when it aired in 2010, and I distinctly remember an episode that sounds completely fake, but I swear on my life it happened. In this specific episode, the main character, Gela Samsonadze, calls Homer Simpson on Skype. The Details: It was a meta-acknowledgment of the show being a clone. They actually rendered/showed Homer Simpson on a computer screen inside the Samsonadzes' art style, and Gela had a conversation with him. The Lead: On basic episode guides online, there is an episode listed as "Simpsons in My Family" (often labeled as Episode 11). I am almost certain this is the episode I remember, but the video file for it does not seem to exist anywhere on the modern internet.
Other Lost Content Aside from the Skype crossover, several other episodes are completely unaccounted for. Another Reddit user a while back mentioned remembering a "Season 2" bootleg CD where an episode featured everyone in the town being completely frozen in place except for the main family.
How You Can Help Because the show was made by Shalva Ramishvili’s production team during a specific era of Georgian television, a lot of this media wasn't digitized well. Are there any Georgian data-hoarders who have old TV Imedi broadcasts saved from 2009-2010? Did anyone buy the old physical DVD/CD releases of the show that might contain the full 20-episode run? Does anyone have a working link or archival file for "Simpsons in My Family"? Any help tracking down the missing pieces of Georgia's strangest piece of animation history would be incredible!

[Unreleased Media] The Paper Kingdom Wardrobe and Set Dressing

In 2012, famous band “My Chemical Romance“ started work on an album called The Paper Kingdom. The story of the album revolved around a group of parents who coped with the loss of their children by imagining they were in the woods fighting a witch. We now have access to a bunch of audio related media revolving around this era of the band but we don’t have any confirmed visual media.

The only reason we have any confirmation this media exists is due to this interview with Kevin Smith in 2012 for his show “Spoilers”

https://youtu.be/5U9YnIUt-Q4?si=iSntBVZGL9m7Xjmt

“This one is going to be really awesome, I’m actually going to meet Colleen soon about it”

In reference to Colleen Atwood, Hollywood costume designer. To fans she will be known for doing the wardrobe design for Black Parade and Danger Days.

In 2014 he also mentions that they were going to build stage sets as well on The Andy Greenwall Podcast

https://www.reddit.com/r/MyChemicalRomance/comments/1hixmou/gerard_talking_about_paper_kingdom/

-

On r/ThePaperKingdomMCR we have a handful of photos that were originally believed to be part of the album

https://www.reddit.com/r/ThePaperKingdomMCR/s/maKHrKnUru

The big issue is that all of these photos mostly revolve around Gerard and Mikey. One of the photos was of the two of them going through woods holding lanterns. It was quickly discovered that the photo was for a charity event with Illuminate Parkinson’s. There’s two more photos of them separated. One of them is of Mikey wearing this black outfit and a couple of Gerard wearing a blue jacket. I’m going to focus on the ladder since it’s the most information I could find regarding context. All these photos were taken by Allan Amoto. Upon looking through his instagram I found that he posted a re-edit of the blue jacket photo where he mentioned that Grant Morrison was present for the photoshoot.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuwrFn8BdXA/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

What makes this interesting is that we do know that Grant Morrison is one of the few people outside of the band who listened to TPK. In this same post he mentioned that the photo was for an Editorial called “Lost Boy Leather” by JunkerDesigns which seems to be lost media in itself. I did reach out to Allan trying to get more information regarding the post.

He did tell me that the editorial was published in 2012 but gave no additional information. I also asked him if the outfit or photos were related to the Paper Kingdom at all and his short response was, “don’t know..”.

At the moment this is where my search ends in terms of Wardrobe. The best we can hope for is probably concept art by either Gerard or Colleen Atwood. Another possible person to look into is Christine L. Cantella, frequent collaborator of Colleen often being an assistant costume designer.

As for Set Dressing I don’t have too much information on…

User u/na-zdrowie found a kick starter by Chris Anthony who did promo photography for Black Parade.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ThePaperKingdomMCR/s/zv8c6c46os

The Kick Starter was for an art book titled “Seas Without a Shore”. I won’t get into everything zdrowie mentioned here since they did an amazing job breaking it down on the post above but they did speculate that these might have been connected to the Paper Kingdom at some point due to the amount of pagan imagery and one photo of a man with a literal paper castle on his head. Yet again this is where our search ends. And in this case it’s a little harder to know where to dig since we don’t know who was set to visuals for this album. If you have any idea on who to ask or where to search for more information please leave a comment!

Could anyone's hoard contain rare Monkees?

I have been a long-time fan of The Monkees - both the music and the television show. People in the film and video collecting circles might not realize there are actually rare and possibly lost versions of some episodes from the show because the studio actually changed the music. I made a video a few years back about this:

https://youtu.be/a3ObzKwZNbY?si=S5peRNA9UBphmMW0

I'm going around hoping word could get to people who have video or audio recordings that can fill in the gaps on these rare programs (originally broadcast from 1969-1972, but sometimes used for syndication in later years).

Those who have 16mm and 35mm collections occasionally have these rare versions. I have paid to have a handful of them scanned for preservation.

The alternate shows have also been known to air outside the US, particularly in the UK and Japan, but other international airings could be possible as well. I'm always interested to find recordings of the TV series from around the world, I haven't come across many.

In the most interesting cases, people actually recorded the audio of these programs on audio cassettes in the early 1970s. These have provided evidence of at least four episodes that haven't turned up (publicly) on film or video tape.

If you think people in your collecting circles have some of these materials, I'd be interested to hear from them.

[Unreleased Media] An Afternoon with SCTV - Martin Scorsese directed documentary unreleased for eight years

An Afternoon with SCTV is a Canadian-American documentary directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is a documentary on SCTV, the legendary Canadian sketch comedy show that launched the careers of Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, Dave Thomas, John Candy, and Rick Moranis. Jimmy Kimmel was present as a moderator. It was filmed at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 13, 2018. The filming reportedly lasted around three hours and played to a live audience of around 1,500 people. All living former members of SCTV were present, including Rick Moranis, who was still retired from acting at the time. Additional footage was filmed over that summer. Netflix and the Canadian company CTV (no relation to SCTV) funded the film and hold the release rights.

The film hasn't had an official released. On May 12, 2021, Joe Flaherty revealed in a Facebook comment on a SCTV fan group that the special had been shelved. However, the following day, on May 13 (exactly three years to the day after the special was filmed) Netflix revealed the special had not been shelved, but delayed due to director Martin Scorsese's other commitments. Regardless, the film has still not been released. SCTV cast members Catherine O'Hara and Joe Flaherty have since passed away.

It seems as though the movie should be in a completed state by now, or at least be awaiting editing, and Netflix is instead choosing to sit on it. Perhaps they're waiting on Scorsese to give his final approval and he just can't be bothered? Regardless it's a tragic that this is still unreleased.
