[FOUND] Prince of Persia: Time Run

Prince of Persia: Time Run, the lost 2015 iOS game, is playable again after 10+ years.

We actually found it. After years of this being a dead end for anyone who went looking, Prince of Persia: Time Run runs again.

Quick background for anyone who's never heard of it. Time Run was an endless runner Ubisoft soft launched on the iOS App Store in Australia and New Zealand back in October 2015. Wall running, a time rewind mechanic, flying carpet sections, basically a Prince of Persia coat of paint on a runner. It got a brief wider release and then Ubisoft pulled the plug on May 24, 2016 and yanked it from the store. Under seven months from launch to shutdown. Because it only ever shipped on iOS, once it left the App Store it was just gone. No physical copy, no re-release, nothing. If you didn't have it installed or sitting in a backup, that was it.

A bunch of us have been chasing it since around 2020 with nothing to show for it. The break came this year when u/Persian_of_Interest tracked down Techzamazing, a YouTuber who had added the game to his Apple account while it was still live, and who was willing to work with us to get it back.

That got us a decrypted IPA. Which then refused to launch. The game leans on old SDK calls that modern iOS doesn't answer the same way anymore, so it crashed on startup, and under PlayCover on Apple Silicon the background rendered as a black void. We wrote a few small dynamic libraries to patch around each problem. One for the launch crash, one to kill the dead Game Center and StoreKit sign in prompts, and one to fix the PlayCover graphics. Full writeup of what each fix does is on GitHub: (Link)

So here's where things stand:

  • Anyone with an iPhone or an Apple Silicon Mac (through PlayCover) can play it now.
  • Patched IPAs and the decrypted original are up on the Internet Archive: (Link)
  • Prefer to build your own instead of trusting a random IPA? The archive has the clean decrypted base, and the GitHub scripts let you generate the patches yourself.
  • There are optional "everything unlocked" builds too. A lot of the skins were locked behind a Facebook invite link that's been dead for years, so this is the only way to actually see them now.

Heads up: the game was never finished, so there's no proper ending. All the released levels are playable though, as far as we could test.

Huge thanks to u/gpranav25, u/Clovergruff64, u/Persian_of_Interest, and Techzamazing for making this happen. Next we'd love to get it running on other platforms, so if you know the engine or want to help, say so.

[Partially Lost] Recording of Howard Stern show with Trump and Artie Lange, Atlantic city joke

I've seen this video on youtube before, but i can no longer find it and assume it's been taken down. it's a recording with of the howard stern show, you can see Trump, Stern & Artie Lange talking for the radioshow.

This particular show takes place shortly after a celeb roast that Artie did on Trump, and trump initially praises Artie's performance on the show. Artie at some point repeats one of the jokes he made during the roast, something along the lines of

>Donald drove his daughter through Atlantic City and said, “Sweetie, someday your name will be on the top of all these buildings. If you marry a guy named Borgata."

Stern and the others laugh, but Trump suddenly becomes quite petulant and hostile towards Artie for the rest of the video, Artie and stern try to play it down, "it's just a joke" etc, but Trump remains visibly and verbally upset- "He's dead to me" etc etc.

https://youtu.be/KRB6_oc8cPw?si=xzr5fM2kWqcmp9mA&t=54

Above is a cut down and edited part of the much longer video i saw.

I've also seen the roast performance itself, but can no longer find that either.

[Archival] I Ripped a 1960s Walter Martin (The Bible Answer Man) spoken-word LP on cults. From what I've seen, zero copies of the audio existed online until now

I am working on ripping any vinyls I find that have no online rips anywhere, topic doesn't matter. This one happens to cover how Christians were to "fight back against cultism" had it been brought to their front door. Basically, Martin is speaking against Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and other "Non-Christian" Christian sects/denominations. This guy was apparently a known counter cult figure at the time who had written many books on the topic as well, this was just one of the rare opportunities where he was recorded discussing it on vinyl rather than on paper.

If you're interested, you can listen to the Cult Apologetics vinyl here.

[Partially lost] Hausa (House) 1977, Japan, English TV dub

Years ago I saw Hausa on Flix (or maybe Encore) with English dubbing. It wasn't a "great" dub, but it added a relative charm, being such an absurd movie already (Japanese psychedelic horror comedy).

I am trying to find out of anyone has found a copy of this film as it aired from around 2000-2007, as an English dub.

I've learned that the dubbed version aired on television was hastily thrown together, was unofficial, and one of the characters is apparently voiced by Casey Kasem.

The Criterion Collection basically saved the film from becoming lost to time due to obscurity in 2010..... buuuuut, being meticulous about authenticity, the English dubbed version was not included, just the Japanese dialogue version English subs. The same goes for the one prior DVD release.

To my knowledge the Hausa English dub is now considered lost media, this is the one place I have yet to check. I've searched high and low, on bootleg sites, old VHS catalogs, and TV listings (the last airing I could find was 2007). Does anyone that frequents this Reddit know if this piece of media has possibly been found by someone?

[Fully lost] Life Swap (1980), BBC predecessor to the reality TV show Wife Swap

In 1980, BBC1's Nationwide program aired "Life Swap", which was a one-off four-episode miniseries that followed a similar format as the modern reality show "Wife Swap".

In the show, a teacher from Newcastle named Myra Robinson swapped lives with wealthy London aristocrat Julia Stonor. Just as in Wife Swap, the two wives lived with the other wives' families and followed each others' daily routines, and then came together at the end to talk about their experience. The main difference appears to be that here, the wives didn't get to impose their rules on the other families.

Surprisingly I haven't been able to find any clips of this and barely any 21st-century media coverage except this article which described it as the UK's "first ever reality TV show". This despite the fact that it is a notable part of UK and global TV history, and Robinson in particular became somewhat of a celebrity after the show aired.

Sammy The Seal Audiobook on Vinyl

Hey folks, I like to find and purchase old vinyl records that have absolutely no recording of their media anywhere online. Today, I ripped and uploaded a video of the first ever (as far as I'm aware) vinyl audiobook of Sammy The Seal, a pretty classic mid-century children's book. Never been on this sub before, so if this isn't the place for this, feel free to remove my post! I'll link the video to this post in case anyone is interested in hearing it themselves, you're likely to be the first people to hear it in decades. Sammy The Seal Audiobook on Vinyl

[partially lost] Lost LivePD interaction

LivePD had this arrest video removed everywhere.

As I remember it, young guy gets pulled over with hand made mannequins in the passenger seats. He introduced himself as "the party". Obviously pranking the police. They end up arresting him because they think he's on drugs. If I remember correctly it was Warwick, Rhode Island. The police had it removed because it was embarrassing and put the police in a bad light.

I know there were tons of reaction videos to this exact one.

If anyone recalls this, I am sure there are plenty of people who have seen this.

[fully lost] Jenny Jones teen town hall

My mom was on an episode of the Jenny Jones show where she interviews goth teenagers. Me and her have been searching for this episode for ages! She remembers being a senior in high school during this so that’s why we think it’s around 1991-1992. They were in the audience so their names weren’t listed, but she was with a male friend who was also goth esque.

I mention this because there are a lot of episodes we have found that have featured goths that get interviewed. But this one was a bit different, and was on the ‘teen town hall’ segment. We’ve tried to find this for years now but haven’t had luck. This seemed like the place to check.

[Found] "Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me" (Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack, Akira Yamaoka) Cover by AcidicVoid

Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me is a piece of music, composed by Akira Yamaoka, from the Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack. It is one of the pieces that get used a lot in "creepy" YouTube videos or memes.

In 2010, user AcidicVoid (still active as a German niche streamer and game dev) created a fan-track based of the original. More a reinterpretation than a direct cover. It's a reduced, more ambient sounding version of the piece.

Unnecessary yet interesting information:

One of Void's projects from the time is K is for Kraken. He made a chiptune version of Satanshimmel voller Geigen by Samsas Traum that can be Found on the release .Käfer.Maden.Würmer.Spinnen..

According to him, most of his works from back in the day are now lost. He used to make actual C64 chiptunes (SID), hosted on 8bc.org (long defunct). There is a lot of lost media related to this guy.

One of his more popular works is his famous cover of the Morrorwind theme, from 2011.

The track:

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3jdj9lgRAc

It was uploaded by fukounashoujo. I know that she also was active in this sub but her Reddit account seems to be banned. I find this very sad since she posted a lot of interesting lost-media-related stuff.

There was an ongoing search for this in a German Silent Hill forum hosted on diplompsychopath.de. The forum was closed a while ago.

Important: In the forum, he didn't use the name AcidicVoid, so I assume that the searchers don't know who made it. If I recall correctly, there was a discussion on who made it. Since the forum is gone, I cant check this.

https://web.archive.org/web/20111219032535/http://www.diplompsychopath.de/cgi-bin/yabb3/YaBB.pl

The forum always required an account and strictly blocked all bots and crawlers from the beginning, so. It changed name to "Dark Games Forum" for a while.

According to the forum, the track was lost after the YouTube channel that hosted it was deleted.

I hope someone from the forum finds this.

Thanks a lot for reading.

[fully lost]E News’, Australian television show reporter Angela Bishop interviews ornery Keanu Reeves and Hugo Weaving in year 2000.

Keanu Reeves and Hugo Weaving were being interviewed by Australian entertainment reporter Angela Bishop on the show ‘E News’. Angela Bishop asks Hugo, in reference to his previous career in arthouse films. She said something along the lines of: ‘You play a powerful character in this film. That’s very different to your prior career’ to which he responds: ‘I could say the same thing about your career’. The interview deteriorates and Keanu contributes by pretending to be napping when he is asked a question.

I remember this very well and could indeed be entertaining but I have not seen it since it aired in 2000 and it does not seem to be online anywhere.

[fully lost] 2D Mobile Zombie Tower Defense game I'm looking for

There are actually two 2D zombie tower defense mobile games I once played that I now consider lost media. I'll describe the first one, this was like a decade ago. This was a pretty simple one, it a bit cartoony. I remember playing it on my ancient iPad. There was a house in the center, and zombies would slowly approach it on right and left sides. Your job was to press your finger on the zombies and launch them into the sky. The setting was at night. I will attach a crude image I made on how I remember the game looking like. it is no longer on App Store, or if it is I can't locate it, leading me to conclude it was taken down by whoever made it. If I remember it right, you also had to turn the iPad vertical to play it.

[fully lost] RuneScape Classic - mudclient14-38.jar ($2,000.00 bounty)

Hello all. There is a program known as mudclient14.jar which is RuneScapes oldest known named client version. Dating to mid January 2001, a few weeks after its original release. Its name is known via obscure archive.org pulls for jagex's original website. The earliest found mudclient is mudclient39.jat which dates to May 2001.

The RuneScape archive team currently has a $2,000.00 bounty on all mudclient.jars that are older than mudclient39.jar

They do not exist on archive.org, and would have to be sourced through other means other than webscraping. This file was known to be retained within Internet Explorers cache. These files only would still exist if the user loaded the page betqeen the dates of January to May 2001.

[partially lost] Does anyone have the supposed "PIXELS Game"?

So, I own a Blu-Ray copy of PIXELS, an old movie about fighting retro games that came to life by aliens. And in the case, I've got this piece of plasticky paper that says that there's a free app both on App Store and Google Play Store named "Pixels Game", but even back then, I couldn't find anything either on Google Play, nor online. So now that I found this movie again, I'm wondering if anyone has an archived APK, or at least some informations about this, because I always wanted to try this game out! I've been searching for so long and, not even with Gemini I can find it! So that's why I'm asking you guys. You're literally my last hope.

[archival] Is it possible for a video downloader site to "accidentally" download now-deleted or privated videos as a result of the site not being updated since the video was still public?

Let's say you're eager to see a video you remember being uploaded in 2017, but sadly it's now deleted or private. You stumble upon a YouTube video downloader that manages to download the desired video, whether the visuals or just audio, due to the download site not having been updates since 2016 when the video was still public. Does such a scenario sound possible let alone even actually happened? It sounds too good to be true so I wouldn't hold my breath. The closest I can think of is that a "blank" file would be downloaded that's broken in all media players and will remain that way no matter what means you go to to repair it.

[Fully Lost] "Ball Revamped Tribute" a game made by TastyLamp

All the information i provide here are from the memories of different people and some evidence of the existence of this game.

First of all, what is Ball Revamped? It's a series of flash games made by jmtb02 (2004-2007).

You might know jmtb02 from his other games like Achievement Unlocked, This is the only level (y'know those elephant flash games).

In Ball Revamped 5 (2007), TastyLamp helped jmtb02 creating the game.

However, before Ball Revamped 5 TastyLamp created a fan game by himself called "Ball Revamped Tribute" which this time it wasn't made with flash. Apparently it was hosted on his site (tastylamp.net) and it was also talked in jmtb02's site forum (jmtb02.com).

Now i will present some recreations made by people who played this game in the past.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NaMy8qsqUZ_vl_IEQYpk_nWpfqvKx3IW?usp=sharing

We have a recreation of the menu and menu theme and a document made long time ago with levels created by fans.

During my searches i also came across a link with an anonymous guy sharing his memories of some levels designs and others.

This is the link: https://uu.getuploader.com/yuuno30247276/download/285

The game would be such a good find for the Ball Revamped franchise and for its fandom.

If anyone can find something please tell us!

Star Trek Christmas LP [fully lost]

I saw an interview today that mentioned the 1960’s Star Trek crew recorded a Christmas album. The style was silly, offbeat. It was not commercially available, only given to higher ups, sponsors, etc. I’d love to hear it and i cant find it anywhere. There are modern Shatner albums but nothing from the ‘60’s. Anyone have a guess?
My father introduced me to Star Trek in reruns during the ‘80’s. I have great memories sharing this with him. Dad passed many years ago and I am passing on the Star Trek love to my kids. It’d be great to have the Christmas albums.

[Fully lost] The Lion's Pride (1996): Lost CBS/Discovery nature special

Hello everyone!

I was digging through some old newspaper listings while doing research for Discovery Channel's partially found nature series Wild Discovery, and I discovered (no pun intended) that the Discovery Channel had a joint licensing deal with CBS in the fall of 1996. This deal allowed CBS to distribute three nature documentaries produced in association with the Discovery Channel, which were aired from that fall to spring. This included A Meerkat Family Saga, a documentary that I cannot seem to identify, and the topic of this thread, The Lion's Pride.

The documentary was shot by cinematographer Sophie Darlington, then known as Sophie Buck, and it was narrated by esteemed actor Malcolm McDowell. The documentary apparently followed Sophie as she filmed the daily lives of a lion pride in Tanzania. Supposedly, the main conflict of the special involved nomadic males that want to usurp the pride's leader and take over the pride—a common plot point in documentaries starring the king of the beasts. The documentary should not be confused with the similarly titled The Lion's Share, another Discovery Channel documentary about lions from the same year and also filmed by Sophie.

The broadcast date for The Lion's Pride was November 15, 1996, a Friday. I cannot seem to find any record of it being rebroadcast on any Discovery-affiliated network in the United States. The only evidence of its existence includes newspaper reviews and a screenshot on the documentary's IMDb page. Given how Discovery trimmed its documentaries for their own broadcasts, CBS likely did the same during its broadcast. Airings of A Meerkat Family Saga would be trimmed for broadcast, which was verified by comparing VHS TV recordings to a Hungarian DVD release—the British DVD release contained the trimmed broadcast edition meant for Wild Discovery. If the broadcast is found, it is more than likely that the documentary would only be considered partially found and not available to the general public.

I am surprised that the documentaries have not resurfaced in any way shape or form, considering that it aired on one of the big four networks in the United States. As an avid nature show enthusiast and archivist, I would love to find out more about this special and why CBS and Discovery decided to collaborate with one another. That third special may take a while to be identified, but that is another story.

[Partially lost] The 47th annual Grammy awards (2005)

Pretty self explanatory I've looked everywhere I cannot find a complete broadcast of it. The reason i want to find it is this is the year Motörhead won a Grammy and fans can't find the clip, it'd be nice for motorhead history and music history to find the complete broadcast.

If anyone has it I'd love to see it. It's probably in someone's personal collection it's the grammy awards. Who knows though seseme street episodes have been lost.

Hopefully someone can help though. I'd love to preserve that clip of best rock/metal performance for the motorhead community.

[Partially lost] The Russian rapper's lost media music video

Don't know if many people will be interested in this, cause i think there's a lot of more interesting lost media but whatever. There's a lost music video by russian-latvian rapper named "Платина" (Platina). He's very popular in Russia and in the russian speaking countries. In the begging of his career he had a music video on the track "Фиолетовый Глоток" (Purple Sip). It's his first music video and now it's deleted for like 7 years. Platina never said anything about this mv. There's some remastered music videos by fans (including mine) with some excerpts of mv. I personally spent a long time trying to find the full video, but no one in 7 years has published the full video or even a few excerpts other than what is currently on the internet.

Known information:

This music video existed.

Before the deleting music video had like 20k views.

The original was uploaded on 14th of June 2017

Video was in purple filter. Platina just dancing in the room with his friends. Music video also had a video shots of girls and shots of city (presumably London).

The track is not lost media, only mv.

There's only 31 seconds of founded footages.

Original music video was like 3:24 minutes long

Remastered with all founded video footages of original
