This morning Halcyon (Halley) was basically unresponsive, breathing hard, not reacting to food or being touched, all that. So I brought him to the vet for an emergency appointment, they took him in and told me to come back in a couple of hours when they could fit me in and that they would keep an eye on him.

Worried myself sick. Thought he poisoned himself or something. Time came so I went back in only for the vet to bring him out, acting perfectly himself again, and tell me that they couldn’t find anything wrong with him and that he got better after I left, so he probably just got scared somehow and freaked out. $200 for the appointment.

He was due for a rabies shot so I did that while I was there. Punishment.

EDIT: actually I think he chewed on my phone charger and got shocked!! Thank you to u/Mugwumps_has_spoken for suggesting that I look at cables!

But for real, how am I meant to play under these conditions? He tracks my colonists across the screen to attack them when they get close.

Raccoons are more common around here so I’m thinking that, but the back paws aren’t clear enough either way. These are the only visible prints.

Maybe if I hold still I’ll blend in with the bathroom and they won’t be able to find me to make me do my job…

I don’t really want to write about what happened again but it was the best thing so he wouldn’t be hurting and it was sudden. He was so happy yesterday.

He was smelly and he bit me sometimes and he fought with my roommates’ cat but I loved him and I don’t know what to do now that he’s gone. It doesn’t feel real yet. I’m glad he’s not hurting anymore but he’s been part of my life for as long as I can remember and now he’s not. I miss him so much.

I used to give Pharaoh some rinsed tuna whenever I made food with it and he would bother me whenever I was in the kitchen for tuna and it was annoying but I miss it now. He loved fleece blankets and would make biscuits on them all the time. He didn’t like it when I stayed up late and he would try to herd me to my bedroom and yell at me, and if I slept too late in the morning he would paw me in the face until I got up. Please remember him for me.
