Educational studies

I am wanting to pursue a career in teaching so I am planning to enroll with WGU. I work full time in a blue collar job and come from a blue collar family but I want to change career paths. I’m 26 years old so I want to get this ball rolling.

I was originally going to go for a BA in education with licensure included, but I realized I have to do CA teaching credential program no matter what. Also I can’t really afford to put work on hold for the in class hours through WGU program. So I’m planning to go for educational studies and take an alternative route such as a preliminary credential program in CA so I can get paid while obtaining my teaching license. I’m planning to enroll with study.com first so I can get a couple steps ahead with some credit transfers. Has anyone been through a similar process, if so how was it for you?
