Just wondering how long it took everyone to graduate!?
Hey everyone! So I’m looking into the educational studies special education program & was wondering about the exams! I keep seeing horror stories about proctored exams. Are there a ton & are they really that bad?
Elementary social studies curriculum. This class was a joke, and I love social studies. My complaint is that over half the questions aren’t even social studies related or covered in course material. There was some very random social study questions in OA as well. I’m glad I passed, but I could easily see why someone could fail the OA.
Hi everyone! I am graduating this upcoming December with my bachelors in child & family studies. I am planning on applying and starting the WGU ma in elementary education program in January! All things considered, what is the fastest I could finish this program with high effort. I am willing to put life on pause and grind. Has anyone finished this program in a 6 month timeline? Is that possible? Maybe unrealistic but my dream would be to grind out the program in 6 months, finish by June & apply for teaching positions in August. Let me know.
Another consideration. Would it be faster to just get a second bachelors in elementary education with their licensure pathway?
I graduated with my associate’s degree at 19, then spent years focused on raising my family before finally turning some focus back onto myself.
After starting substitute teaching a year ago, landing a long-term position, and truly finding joy in it, I realized teaching is where I’m meant to be.
So here I am at 31 — terrified, excited, and finally ready to do this for me.
Send all the good vibes, tips, and tricks my way! ❤️
It was all worth it!! I got my confetti, and watched the virtual commencement, I have my digital degree, and 5 licensure exams passed! I’m tired, but mostly excited to spend time with my family again. I accelerated my program completing it in the minimum suggested time 1.5 years and it was hard! 16-17 hour days during school breaks and every minute I could scrape together while working! I’m so glad to be done and so thankful for WGU’s flexible schedule so I could accomplish my dream of earning a masters!
If you’re just starting, in a rut, graduating, accelerating, or relishing your time in your program, good job and congratulations on your journey! You’ve got this!! One task at a time, the end will be here before you know it!
Congratulations and Good Work fellow Night Owls!!!
My start date is June 1st for BA in Elementary Ed. I stay at home while my husband works so I plan on doing atleast 45 hours a week of course work and studying. I'm hoping to graduate in 1.5 years, maybe a year if I really work at it.
How far are you into your degree?
For WGU students (in NEW YORK) who graduated OR are currently enrolled towards the end of their degree, how long did it take you to study and pass the NYSTCE childhood education 1-6 exams? Also, what materials did you use?
Just curious, are excellence awards something that everyone gets as a motivational boost?
I am wanting to pursue a career in teaching so I am planning to enroll with WGU. I work full time in a blue collar job and come from a blue collar family but I want to change career paths. I’m 26 years old so I want to get this ball rolling.
I was originally going to go for a BA in education with licensure included, but I realized I have to do CA teaching credential program no matter what. Also I can’t really afford to put work on hold for the in class hours through WGU program. So I’m planning to go for educational studies and take an alternative route such as a preliminary credential program in CA so I can get paid while obtaining my teaching license. I’m planning to enroll with study.com first so I can get a couple steps ahead with some credit transfers. Has anyone been through a similar process, if so how was it for you?
Okay, I am lost. There's no lesson plan template for this class, so how are you all setting up your lessons?
For next school year starting in August, when can you start your student teaching application?
I’m genuinely so irritated the survey is so long I got less than like 20 minutes by the time she stopped talking. Do I even submit or what do I do I’m not going to be able to finish the whole survey in this amount of time. I stg I’m about to drop out so fucking sick of the time constraints on everything. And I have to fake ask about their day for minutes too. I hate wgu so fucking bad
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has ran into the issue of a completed Mursion not having audio? I had a task sent back for D689, and I can see the video recording, but there’s no audio on it. I am waiting to hear back from my mentor, but I wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this in the meantime? I’d love to not have to do this Mursion again as it’s an issue on their end.
Hey all! So I graduated in March in educational studies (elementary education) I switched to the non licensure route in February because I got a job offer that I wouldn’t be able to student teach during. However I completely regretted it and have since got accepted into the masters program for elementary education. Just wondering how similar the coursework is and how fast anyone accelerated through this program? I am pregnant so just wanting to get a timeline. Thanks!
I know there are older posts about this, I have read them all for advice several times....I guess I am just hoping to network with people who are in the same boat as me right now. I am genuinely so frustrated about this class. It's so much information for one class and I feel hopeless. I have studied so much, watched Amobeia sisters videos, cohorts, all the things, but I can't seem to get it to click. I am not really looking for advice necessarily, but to hear stories of hope or maybe hear from others who are just as miserable as me right now haha.
I’m knocking out courses in Sophia currently so I’m not enrolled or able to talk to a mentor.
How do student teaching placements work? I live in a district with about 30 elementary schools. 15 of them are schools we have basically inherited from a city that is well known for how rough it is between violence and poverty, to not give away too much about location. 9 are title I.
I’m not trying to come off weird, there are other schools on the other side of the county in rough areas that I wouldn’t mind being placed at all, but the schools from the city are my worst nightmare.
That being said, do I get ANY say or anything when it comes to placement, or will they just throw me wherever they can get me in? I’ve seen that students can’t reach out to schools themselves, but can we request schools through our mentor? I’m trying to figure this out before I fully commit.
So I went to retake my core subject Praxis this past weekend so I could graduate on time. I scored a 147 and I needed a 154 to get my licensure in my state (WGU will let you graduate with a 148 on it).
Now, I just finished all of my classes and don’t know what to do. I can’t graduate without that test but I also can’t retake it for another month. My term is up at the end of this month, too soon to make another attempt before.
Anyone been in this situation? Help!
