Was this not meant to be done?

My first time playing witcher 3 or any witcher game in fact in not used to it yet so i tried taking a short cut but i feel like i ended up finding a bug also this was me trying to be stealthy ( ac 2 left a mark) also kinda bad at the game since i died to the guards before this
