Story consequences of deleting essences

The game is new enough that it is impossible to find the clarification I need through Google without severe risk of spoilers, which I'm trying to avoid at all costs.

The confusing, conflicting answer I'm picking up from miscellaneous Reddit and Steam comments is, "There are no consequences, unless you care about the story." I quite obviously care about the story, as I assume most people who play the game do.

Is there story content you can miss from letting go of specific essences? Dialogue, major or minor? Which can I safely remove without having to worry about missing any little details?

While I generally want to avoid spoilers, such as the ending, I am requesting specific information about what I should keep if I don't want to gate myself out of story. I believe there are decisions to make (do not spoil the consequences), but I don't want to be gated out of a choice to get an ending.

Do I need Edward, or does he come up again? I found out that there's a side quest related to Lidia and you can acquire some of her family members. Is any of that gated or changed if I remove her? Artur seems important to the story rn because I just got him, but does he actually come up again?

Edit: Quick clarification, this is my first run and thus I do not care about achievements. I only care about story.

PSA: Do NOT buy Cronos: The New Dawn on Switch 2

(Was originally meant for r/NintendoSwitch2, but the post was automatically rejected due to lack of prior activity on the sub. I didn't even know that was a thing.)

I have a decent PC, but I bought the game on Switch 2 specifically because I was itching for a new AAA release for the console. I was excited to dig in, and after several hours of play time: Yeah this game does not run well. At all. Overall I was enjoying the experience for the atmosphere and worldbuilding, but the frames were unacceptably low, and they would plummet further any time there was combat. The framerate is so bad in combat that the game enacts the most forced and noticeable aim assist I've ever experienced in a game in order to compensate. And the thing is, it's needed. You will not want to turn off.

I got to the first significant boss a few days ago, but I haven't returned to the game since, despite having a desire to continue the story. The encounter was just so unplayable I can't bring myself to start the game back up.

I'm really really really disappointed and wish I could get a refund. It was on sale, but a $30-40 game still ain't nothing for me.

Anyway it'll eat into my budget but I just bought it on Steam. I'll probably delete the game from my Switch tonight. ☹️
