OJT Training duration at different Montreal FIR towers (NAV CAN question)

Prospective VFR candidate here. Questions about training lengths for each tower.

I get the length of the OJT training varies based on many variables. That said, does anybody know the average length of time one usually stays on OJT training at, lets say, YUL vs YHU vs YOW?

The official training length written on the nav canada website shows anywhere between 6-18 months for OJT. Trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Thanks!

Current Controllers - Do you ever wish you could have been in the other domain? (E.g IFR instead of VFR)

Are you IFR and wishing you could have been VFR? Or the opposite? Do you have any regrets with this career?

I’m trying to learn more about how current employees see their careers.

Thanks!

Nav Can - MTL FIR - Odds of getting YOW as first posting?

Assuming I make it through the process in the MTL FIR and get selected for Tower, what are the odds I get sent to YOW? Does Nav Can typically try to send new recruits to quiet towers or busy towers? Is there even rhyme or reason to this?

Short Bilingual Interview (Post-Feast) - MTL FIR

I have a 10-15 min bilingual interview post-feast (assuming I pass). They said it would be short and used as a pre-assessment. That said, I'm unsure if they're just pre-assessing my french, or if it's a general screening tool for future interviews.

Any guidance on preparation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Just got my FEAST invite for Montreal ACC. I have questions regarding the process and the job.

I honestly forgot about the application I made for this position a year ago. So it came as a surprise when I got the email invitation yesterday.

The email states I am FEAST testing for a Montreal ACC (IFR) position. I am bilingual (but prefer English). And so, I have a few questions:

  1. If "successful" and hired, would I be working at Montreal ACC for sure?

  2. Is there a chance I am changed into VFR at some point during the process? and If I am changed to VFR, how do they determine where they send me? At what point of the selection process will I know if I am VFR or IFR?

  3. Will my FEAST tests be in french or english? Can I choose to do everything in English? How about the "interview" that's scheduled right after my FEAST?

  4. During my career, how arduous would it be for me to relocate back to Ottawa, to lets say, the tower at YOW?

  5. I have 10 years of federal government time. Does this count toward seniority or have bearing on ANYTHING tenure-related with NAV CAN? Pension transferrable?

  6. I have seen that after the 20-28 months IFR training, base pay starts at 155k. Is this accurate? I understand that premiums are in addition to this, and that premiums/OT all depend on where you are assigned.

Any additional info is SUPER appreciated. Just an older young guy making a serious career change.
