So I'm currently an aerospace engineering student, and just passed my final interview and assessment about two weeks ago where I told them I would preferably like to fall into the IFR stream. Yesterday I got a call from Nav asking me whether I'd be interested in VFR training where I politely declined, and that I'd still be in line to be in the IFR stream.

All this to say, with all the talk about the 30-40% success rates, I was wondering how the training compares to a full course load of a university level education, and if anyone has been in a similar position, how they adapted to going from school to training? I 100% realize that training is on another level, but want to get myself best prepared to for when it comes time for training.

Any fellow candidates who took Feast on Sept 19,20 in YEG and had their pre screen on Sept 25/28 heard back about results yet?

Not talking about bg check email or panel interview invite but the result after pre-screen whether passed or not?

I did my pre screen on Sept 25th but haven’t heard back anything yet. They told I should have my result early this week. Workday still shows assessment stage.

Probably should ready myself for the unforeseen email right?

I have a standby course for next year YWG. Gonna start studying coming January giving 3 months for ABCs. I'm moving for this but I'm well aware of the risks, just want to be mentally prepared for what's to come.

I was wondering all who've done IFR training, can you go in depth for what "simulator training" is, and what kind of difficulty to expect, week to week of basic vs specialty vs otj? Day to day?

Have you ever been close to failing, if so, how close and what mistake? What was the mental stress like? How was it seeing other people fail, what mistakes did they make? Did anyone leave out of their own choice?

How did difficulty compound? Is just volume of planes? Did other students watch as you did your evaluations?
