Hi guys! I (25F) have noticed in the last 2ish years that my hair has just stopped curing but only the bottom layer of my hair. I have tried different shampoos, creams, mousses, oils etc. The top layer is just as curly as it always has been. My mom is a hair dresser and she thinks one of 2 things could be happening 1) hormonal changes or 2) it could be because of the birth control implant that I’ve had since 2019 (renewed in 2024).

For reference

1. I use redkin shampoos and conditioner
2. kune curl cream
3. I do like a half dry with a diffuser half air dry thing.

My hair is about midway down my chest. It was very thick so my mom recently cut it to see if taking some of the weight off the top layer would help. - it didn’t. It is healthy, virgin hair otherwise. Has anybody had this issue? How did you fix it? I just want my curls back😭
