Looking for haircut and routine advice for my hair

I’m looking to change or keep (I don't know, whatever is best) my haircut. Does anyone have recommendations for a haircut that works well with this type of hair or way to maintain it easily? I’m hoping for something that is easier to manage.

Also, I’ll be spending two months this summer in a place with a water shortage. Any tips on haircuts or products that make hair easier to maintain when you have limited water access would be amazing.

Attached is my current hair —thanks in advance for any advice!

How to care for frizzy damaged hair?

Hi, I've never done any kind of haircare my whole life. I only use shampoo and started using conditioner a few months ago. My hair is extremely frizzy. Like extreme. I'm not sure how to control it. It's obvious I need to use some products to make my hair better but my budget is pretty small. I have wavy hair, like 2c I guess but it's so frizzy it's hard to say. Do I need to follow a curly hair routine? What are the essentials I need? Please help me out as I'm going to start college and I want to feel better about myself and have healthy hair.

Please Help

My hair is a hot mess. This was me trying to make it look nice after wash day. I usually wash hair 1-2x/week. What I did last night/this morning:

- Brushed thoroughly with paddle brush starting at the endsand working my way up, had a few stubborn little tangles at the ends that i had to pick apart

- Shampooed hair twice in slightly warmer than lukewarm water, only the part that would be flat if i had it in a ponytail. Used fingertips to kind of wiggle in the shampoo, not a hard scrub, didn't want breakage. Aussie Miracle moist shampoo

- Put in conditioner on the part of my hair that would be the tail of a ponytail. I have mixed porosity, so my scalp is usually greasy by day 3 but with dry ends. Ball that up at the upper back part of my head then put a shower cap on. Let sit for ~15 mins while I do the rest of my shower. L'Oreal Hyaluron + Pump Hydrating Conditioner

- Lean forward and rinse hair with cold water and softly brush through again with wide tooth comb. Turned off shower. Squeezed out most of the water (didn't twist it out, left some in still but wasnt really dripping anymore)

- Applied about 3 tablespoons leave-in conditioner w/prayer hands starting about 6" from my scalp downwards

- Wrapped up in turbie twist towel for 2 hrs. Then put on long satin bonnet before bed (slept 7 hours)

- Was still slightly damp when i woke up. Parted using rattail comb then combed through with wide tooth comb, just enough to get big tangles out.

-------------------

Hoping for something affordable, I'm on a tight budget right now, hence the aussie and loreal. Sometimes I also spray with By Nature Fermented Rice Water (on the roots, after the shower, I'm thinning near my temples) or Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant spray, but didnt today. Ethnicity is norwegian/german/cuban/puerto rican if that helps.

what can i use to tame frizz but also give volume?

i’ve attached 3 photos of good curls on wash days and then a photo of it completely brushed out (i know that’s bad but i wanted to see volume potential!)

i’m currently only using amika curl cream on wet hair after my shower and then a defining brush, then letting it air dry. problem is recently, it’s been air-drying super frizzy and uncontrollable. there’s still some definition like these pics, but for the most part it’s unbelievably coarse and frizzy, around the scalp area and less towards the bottom. i have a mousse from a drugstore that i don’t use very often (i think pantene?)

but also, i really think that my curls aren’t as big as they could be (i think they’re like a 3A?), for some reason they just feel so small on my head. how could i combat to get volume? a diffuser? would that make the frizz worse?

it honestly might just be the pressure of the shower head in the place i’m living in right now (im in college dorms and im moving out in a month so maybe that can help too) but let me know what you all think!

edit: im in canada!

Why does my hair have so many flyaways/breakage after straightening?

Guys please help 😭

I have type 3b-3c hair (low porosity) and this is my hair right after straightening it, and as you can see there are SO many flyaways, especially around my edges and crown area. My hair has honestly been like this for the past 5 years and I don’t know what’s causing it anymore.

I only straighten my hair around once a month, usually at 380–400°F. I’m also not the best at moisturizing/deep conditioning consistently, so maybe that’s part of it? I used to do slick backs a lot too, but now I’m scared of tension damage/breakage so I stopped.

Does this look like breakage? New growth? Damage? Hormonal issues? I’m genuinely so lost and would appreciate any advice 😭

What would you consider my hair type?

Would you consider my hair 2a, 2b, or 2c? This is my hair air dried with 2 sprays of pureology leave in conditioner on just my ends (I put this in my hair in the shower and do not comb hair after shower), 1 pump of lotta body foam mousse, and about a pea sized amount of garnier air dry curl cream. The top of my hair usually stays pretty straight unless I diffuse it. I’ve experimented with other products like garnier curl scrunch gel and some Aussie mousse (I hated the Aussie mousse) I think I’ve finally realized the less product I use the better my hair looks- so I could have not liked the Aussie mousse because of using too much (?). Other suggestions welcome!

Finally found products that worked for me

After years and years of looking for products that actually define my curls and helps with frizz, I think I found it.

For reference I have 3a/c hair and I just started my curly girl journey from many years of straightening my hair

These are my current favorites.

I would like to see if anyone has a reviews or thoughts on these 4 products and if they worked for you.

How can I grow thickness back after hair matted - depression?

Hi, so I'm really embarrassed about this but I've been in depression for years (severe) and it's been getting better recently ( in years) but sadly I've had a really big relapse in January and my hair got MATTED, well it happened for it to really become entangled before and it was taking me hours but not this much, it got entangled for months and for reference my hair is curly (3a-3c so ifyk yk...) and it's my thigh length LOL, so I've been passing the last fews months detangling it and holy shit sorry for swearing but I don't even know how I managed to keep such a motivation, it was so bad but managed to do it !! and well today was the final day I've been able to brush them and they're finally back to "normal" again...the problem ? I lost like ¾ of my thickness and I'm not kidding sadly 💔 I thought it was tripping and was expecting much but I lost SO MUCH more than what I thought, my hair is so "thin" now and I know it's because of the detangling + how the knots were pulling on my hair for months, but I want to know if I can grow back my thickness, how and how much time it would take...I have a lot of oils rn and using them especially castor oil, but I need to know if people got similars experiences, how to do it etc bcs I'm gonna start crashing out, my hair means a lot to me and it makes me literally so sad Im in denial, Im almost praying for a miracle and I know I'll need to be patient still but I need help, so please if you got any advice, anything I'm taking it happily, even if u don't know an encouraging word would mean the world to me❤️‍🩹 thank you so much

Why my curls get tighter on my ends

Is it because of damage?

Curly cut

Hello everyone I had a curly cut in February, I’ve been going to the same stylist for many years (she’s not specialized in curly hair but she has the rezo cut certification) most of her clients have straight hair and I decided to give her a chance but this last time I saw she left me like this and I felt sth was off but I just let it go but my husband just noticed that, that’s how my hair looks when styled and air dried

I used a clarifying shampoo from Davines then a hair mask she gave me then a moisturizer from davines as well
For styling products I used the cream from design me and spiralicious gel from jessicurls , my regular shampoo and conditioner are from loma(the blue ones)
What should I do? Is it maybe the way I styled it? Should I look for a new stylist that corrects it?
😭 help

Here to learn and get suggestions!

I am a mixed curlie needing some help with all the things! Photos provided are of next day hair (one day post wash/style).

I’ve been trying so many different products, tools, and routines that I can’t remember exactly what I used/did for wash day this time. I did not sleep with a bonnet last night because I’ve been so frustrated with my results lately that I just said screw it, but I normally do use one!

I have A LOT of very fine, long, naturally curly/wavy hair that tangles almost instantly. Frizz is a constant battle, even when soaking wet. I rarely use heat, as I prefer to air dry mainly because I don’t know what I’m doing, but I have a dryer with diffuser and a cold setting that might help.

As far as routine goes, I will shampoo once or twice, condition with detangling brush, and style wet in-shower with a combination of mousse, gel, and leave-in conditioner. I use a curl defining brush and wide tooth comb during styling as well as scrunching/raking.

Here are my initial questions:

What type of pattern do I have?
What porosity is my hair?
What types of products or concerns should I focus on?
Am I using too much or too little product?
How do I properly use a diffuser?

Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated! TIA 🫶🏻

Does anyone have curly hair bun advice

For context I have about 15 inches of thick curly hair and I always break my hair tie, I just need some tricks or if anyone has videos/ones they recommend. I’m trying to mainly figure out messy buns and slick backs. Thanks!

I don't even know what to do with this curls anymore

I just get off the shower and let it dry. Sometimes it ends up perfectly curly and others just like this. I accept suggestions

In this photo I'm using TRESemme shampoo and conditioner and sleeping on my normal pillow with wet hair (I know that's terrible) but anything else

Oh yes I'm not a natural blonde of course ahahaja

I need major help with my out of control curls. Product recommendations to help with frizz?

I style my hair and it looks great inside the house, the second I walk out the door on a warm, humid day my hair poofs and frizzes up instantly. I think I am using the wrong products. I have read that ouidad is recommended for my hair type. Create me a regimen with products from them, please?

  1. Currently I use the Redkin soft line (shampoo, conditioner, serum)

  2. I've been using the Color Wow carb infused leave in conditioner and Color Wow shield but not having much luck.

  3. I usually air dry my hair.

  4. I usually wash once a week, and heat style the day after washing and then use heatless curls every night the rest of the week. I do use a silk pillowcase.

is this a good routine for my hair? Struggling with frizzy hair.

WASH DAY (1-2x per week)

Before shower:

1.	Coconut oil??

In shower:

2.	Water — soak hair completely
3.	OGX Coconut Curls Shampoo — 1-3 mins
4.	Rinse thoroughly
5.	OGX Coconut Conditioner — mid-lengths to ends, leave 3-5 min, rinse
6.	Fructis Mask — leave 15-30 min, rinse with cool water

Out of shower (hair soaking wet):

7.	Fructis Leave-in — scrunch into sections
8.	Fructis Anti-frizz — scrunch upward section by section
9.	Argan oil — 1-2 drops only, scrunch in
10.	Air dry

MID-WEEK (2-3x per week)

1.	Water spray — dampen hair fully
2.	Fructis Curl refresher spray step 4 — scrunch in
3.	Argan oil — 1 drop for shine
4.	Air dry

MONTHLY

•	clarifying shampoo

Also would coconut oil be useful? my hair is always frizzy
