How to expose the best 5 seconds of a game you created.
When I make and promote a game, I think I need to give the feeling that they want to play just by looking at that image.
But it's never easy. You need to reveal the game's core mechanics and fun elements through a single image, a very short GIF, or a trailer.
In the process, excluding numerous elements of the game, the logical structure must be strong enough to help the player who will see this promotional material understand.
That's right, it's too difficult. However, most popular successful games succeed in this. It succeeds in attracting attention and getting more exposure. We get a wish list, receive feedback, and develop into a better game.
Someone says. I think fun games will eventually be discovered, and ultimately, someone other than the developer will take over this process for you. It's a success in showcasing the fun of the game to the public, something even developers couldn't do. It's really relying on luck. Of course, the more fun and well-made the game, the higher the probability, but it won't be 100%.
Marketing has become so important in the indie game market. Developers need to be aware of marketing points that are likely to resonate with the public. You need to be able to show the core mechanics and fun elements of the game in about 5 seconds.
Is everyone doing that?
I can't do that.
I’m not able to do that. I don’t have the ability to organize the core ideas or strong marketing skills. And when those two abilities are lacking and people don’t respond to your game, most developers start to doubt whether their game is actually fun. I did too.
But from now on, I've decided to believe. My game is fun, and of course, I'm not a developer who made a popularly successful game, but it will happen someday.
So I need everyone's help. How is everyone explaining the core mechanics and fun elements of their game within 5 seconds?
Do you present the most visually impressive scene?
If it's a deck building genre, does it show the completed deck?
Or does it show funny scenes that occurred in the game?
Please share the know-how to expose the best 5 seconds of your game to the public to an indie developer who lacks the skills!
Or, please derive the method together through discussion!
