Does these chest pains sound like anxiety / reflux or something else?
I’ve been to many drs for these chest pains and I’ve never had a formal diagnosis and no treatment I’ve had so far has helped me.
They’re central and left sided chest pains and feel like an ache. It’s above and below my left pectoral muscle and sometimes under the left armpit, When pressed certain spots feel like a bruise is being pressed. I’ve noticed they can come on at any time for no reason at all but sometimes if I drink something caffeine related that can worsen them.
When they first appeared almost 4 years ago I had a CT Scan by a cardiologist. Also ecgs bloods, X-rays and a 24h monitor all these tests were clear. Since then I’ve been the er 10 plus times general thinking I’m having a heart attack it gets that bad. During the pain I get no other symptoms at all and can do activities like normal
The pain is there all day every single day. Sometimes it’s a 2/10 others a 8/10. I do get a day where it’s barely there occasionally.
Every time I’ve been to the er or to my gp or even when I first saw the cardiologist 4 years ago they always tell me it’s anxiety or muscular related. I used to have chronic health anxiety where every single day I would think I had cancer or was having a stroke and this went on for years, could this be related to my pain?
Could anxiety really cause constant pain the way I explain? Or could it actually be my heart? I also had an endoscopy 3 months ago and a 4cm hiatal hernia was found but my gp said it’s likely not that causing it. I’m on omeprazole and take gaviscon and that doesn’t help.
I’ve tried naproxen, amitriptyline, ibuprofen, paracetamol, heat, ice, stretches/ massages and none of this helps get rid of it.
I started sertraline this week and therapy for anxiety next week
What could be going on with me? It’s ruining my life I can barely leave the house without worrying about a heart attack
