Artist merch from sweatshops
Genuine question for the EDM/rave community:
How do you guys feel about artists who heavily promote PLUR, spirituality, mindfulness, “love everyone,” anti-capitalism, etc., while their merch is being produced in overseas inhumane sweatshops?
Not trying to start drama or call out any specific artist, I’m genuinely curious where people draw the line between:
- building a successful brand/business and
- actually living the values they preach.
Do you think it’s just unavoidable once artists get big enough? Or do you think there’s some hypocrisy in preaching conscious living while using the same manufacturing systems as giant corporations?
Curious to hear people’s honest thoughts on it.
