Flock Cameras Can Track Every Car in America. Police Love Them. Citizens Don't.

"In Texas, there's one thing liberals and conservatives agree on: They don't want cameras trained on their cars."

Interesting article from the Texas desk of the Times today, yall. "Am I just being paranoid? No, they're actually everywhere."

Note that the article does misstate the number of Flock ALPRs in Carrollton, though - it attributes only 19 to Flock, but the recently published Carrollton portal on Flock's website indicates they have 67, which aligns more closely with the contracts that have been passed via consent agenda.

Carrollton residents call for removal of Flock license plate readers amid privacy concerns

https://www.change.org/p/end-the-flock-safety-alpr-camera-program-in-carrollton-tx

Appreciate that Mayor Babick and Carrollton PD were willing to share some data with local journalists. Hope we soon hear a follow up with more data - for the “hits”, how many resulted in vehicles recovered, arrests made, and missing persons found safe? But equally as important is how many total vehicles were identified and added to the database?
