Do I need to keep my eSIM attached to a phone?
I've done a fair amount of research and have been unable to find a definite answer to this. I'm hoping someone else might know for sure as I really don't want to deal with asking Optimum (I suspect this is a question where I'll get 10 different answers from 10 different representatives).
Right now (this might be surprising) I have a fairly good deal going with Optimum. I'm getting 1 GB internet for a pretty decent price, along with one phone line. Adding the phone line was required to get the promotion. I made it clear I had no intention of using this line and I only took it for the promotion. The line was added to my old phone (which was unlocked) and was just there, activated, doing nothing.
Recently I switched providers (Verizon to T-Mobile) and got a new S26+. My new phone is not unlocked, so I can't add the Optimum eSIM. It seems that even without the eSIM attached to a phone, the line stays active. Is this sufficient to maintain all associated promotions? Or does the eSIM have to actually be attached to a phone?
Thanks.
