Is this like a meta-Doctor who reference left by the two idiot Germans?[aka my crazy ramblings that doesn't make any sense]

This scene where the hand inside pyro tries to force its way up his throat reminds me of "Empty child" from Doctor who

But the(possible)irony is that pyro already has a gas mask on his face and therefore blight's hand can't come out. Therefore it could be a metaphor of how that two parter "Empty child" and "The Doctor Dances" has inspired Two Idiot Germans into making serverblight in the first place.

Like the pyro was already "empty" and thus blight cannot assimilate him because there's nothing in him to assimilate in the first place. I see it as a meta-joke or something like that (I'm not making any sense,I know ,but just listen to me!)
