Regret

A few years ago I had the highest spec Surface Go 3. Windows ran absolutely awfully on it. It would regularly freeze and slow down because I was using Microsoft Office (crazy, I know).

Installing Linux on it is something that never even crossed my mind back then. It makes me sad because I ended up buying a Surface Laptop 7, which is super nice in terms of the hardware and build quality, but now that my interest in Linux is growing, I find out that Linux will not run on this new laptop.

I wish I had kept my 1000 euros and just installed Linux on the old Go 3, that would have been perfect. Instead, I let myself get lured in with pretty hardware, to be even further locked down into Microsoft's ecosystem.

Can't wait to sell this thing.

How do I get consistent power button behavior?

I actually want my power button to just turn of my console with a simple press. No sleep mode (I have reasons but it doesn't matter).

The thing is I found the option in desktop mode to change the power button behavior, which works, but only in desktop mode... In Big Picture the power button still puts the device to sleep. Is there anything I can do to change that?

I'm confused about "My files" vs "Computers"

So in terms of "My files" my drive is empty. I am however syncing 150 GBs of data within the "Computers" section.

Why are these two different things?

If I do a full wipe of that Computer, it means all the data I was syncing from it actually gets deleted, correct? So it was never backed up to begin with? (only made syncable to other devices)

So to have my files actually backed up I would have to move them to the My files section? Then I can safely wipe that pc and reinstall etc. without losing all that stuff?

Why is Proton like this? I just don't understand the point of having data synced but not actually backed up. Those 150 GBs are still being subtracted from my total storage capacity within Drive... but they are not backed up?

Idk sorry if I'm just wrong, please correct me. I just want to understand.
