Currently, we have generators that make stuff from a prompt and presumably steal from existing art online and there’s a bunch of people creating content, calling themselves artists and getting upset that real artists are gate keeping….nobody is gate keeping. It’s just that they are not ‘creating’ anything. The people calling themselves ‘ai artists’ are just flooding the net with shite that nobody wants with tools that are not mature yet.

However, as these things progress and the control of the output is improved, then I can see people being able to create some beautiful content that wasn’t previously possible. When that happens, it will be the people who are skilled in 3D modelling, digital art, etc that will be the ones who produce the best content as the tools merge together.

I’m skilled at 3D modelling and animation. But that shit takes TIME ….3D model generation, texturing and animation is really shit currently, but it’s pretty obvious that there will be some middle ground between generation and modelling and I’m all for it.

Yes, the slop getting churned out now is pretty grim but this technology will eventually allow solo developers/artists to make high fidelity games, movies or who knows what else. Personally I can’t wait to see what comes.
