Husqvarna 701 trade.

Hello everyone,

I own a Husqvarna 701 that has been an awesome bike, and I’ve had it for 7 years now. I’ve done the MABDR twice on it and the PA Wilds about 3 times. It’s also been my daily commuter, but after a few personal life events, it sat in my garage for about 2 years.

I hopped on it a few weeks ago and rode it into work. Sadly, the clutch cylinder failed, and it’s currently in the shop getting that fixed along with a general service.

I tend to spend more time using it as a commuting bike now rather than taking it off-road. I’ve been looking into other bikes, such as the KTM 890/790 Adventure R, KTM 390 Adventure R (which looks very appealing), Kove 800, Norden 901, and Ténéré 700.

A little information about my bike: it has very few upgrades. It has Tusk racks for panniers, a replacement gas cap, and R.A.M.-style mirrors.

Here’s a list of things I eventually intend to do to the bike:

Rade Garage rally fairing

Scott’s steering damper

Rade Garage auxiliary tank

I’m looking for a more road-worthy, comfortable bike that is still a monster off-road when I do these occasional rides.

My main use would be commuting back and forth to work, which is roughly 40 minutes of highway time, with the idea of doing one week-long, off-road BDR-style ride once a year.

So my overall question is: Should I spend roughly $3,000 on the upgrades I listed to make the 701 a bit more comfortable at highway speeds and for commuting, or should I sell the bike and buy one of the bikes I listed?

Any feedback would be appreciated, especially from people who have ridden or owned these bikes.
