The entire main story takes place in like 11-13 days.

OK look, I'm gonna say this right off the bat, I love this game, for me it's a beautiful experience of a popular time period and a pretty decent story with compelling characters. I welcome any comment that would express their own opinions on the matter regardless if it's a good or bad thing.

Now there are many good things I can say about this game, and a fair amount of bad things I can acknowledge as issues, and frankly I'm gonna express my opinion, both good and bad, on one little nitpick. The main story from the Moment of Oda Nobunaga' death (June 21, 1582), along with the going after every Shinbakufu member ending in Akechi Mitsuhides death (July 2, 1583). Its like just under two weeks.

Now look, Feudal Japan has been the most requested setting for a game for a LONG time, so the story was always going to be judged regardless, and I personally found it compelling and a classic revenge story. But the issue is the entire plot being framed in such a small timebox kinda makes it underwhelming. On the one side you get the impression of like "Damn, Naoe and Yasuke are absolute demons for blazing a war path across Japan" but it works against the fact Shadows still carries a few Remnants of the same open world rpg style. There are too many side quests and extra bits of content that it would make no logical sense for these two to do all of the recruitment and targets alongside the main quest in under two weeks.

Like one could argue that all the other target groups could be sorted out after dealing with the main threat, but you still have to grind various other side quests and complete locations to get gear and at the right level to do the main quest in certain areas.

Maybe if the devs had more time to flesh out the plot outside of Nobunagas reign, but I still have a love for this game, it's just this one little detail about the timeline is something that kinda bugs me but also makes me respect the two protags for cleaning house.

Also, while the seasons system is kinda sweet, it's also kinda redundant because of the timeline. That could be explained with animus glitching or something like that.

Anyway, share your thoughts on this if you want to.
