I [18M] was sitting on a bench waiting for a bus and a person sat to the left of me on the bench. The bench is about 5ft wide and I was sitting about 2 feet from the right side, so to the center right. When the person sits to the left of me I move about a 1.5 feet to the right to give them space as curtsey, so me and them would have a more comfortable distance from each other. When the bus comes, I catch a glance of them looking insulted, and showing their tongue at me. They don't get on the bus I get on, and presumably would then wait about 10 minutes for the next one. Maybe the person's reaction was a bit dramatic, but from their perspective they might have seen me scooting away from them as me thinking they were disgusting or something, and were personally insulted. I sort of get that logic, in the future should I just stay where I am sitting when somebody sits on the same bench as me?
