So I’m writing an essay on my experience growing up seeing Tourette’s used as a punchline in shows/media, particularly in a negative way (example: a character repeats a word a bunch of times, other character sarcastically asks if they have Tourette’s, laugh track ensues 🙄). I want to include specific quotes and examples, but besides Gilmore Girls I haven’t had much luck remembering which shows included jokes like these & where to find them exactly.

I’m basically writing about how a lot of the time, Tourette’s jokes are used in contexts where a character is meant to be perceived by the audience as “annoying,” which contributes to creating negative connotations associated with Tourette’s.
