This will be the last post I make for a while now, but just wanted to say that the chrome extension is finally out.
Completely free extension link : here: (<-- click) (also its only for webtoon, the green one)
(if ur interested in how it works, i'll put a more extensive summary below (just give me today, i'll post it in like 12 hrs) :
When you view a series, you can toggle between three modes. Each serves a specific purpose depending on the series' popularity:
2. The Verdict
The extension provides a "Verdict" based on the following numerical ranges:
Engagement Score (order) : strongly encouraged, encouraged, promising, mixed, weak
Retention Score (order) : very strong sustained, solid sustained, decent hold, mixed chapter, attention drops off
for both, mixed is the standard.
also for engagement, never seen the first one in a series, and for retention never seen the first two in a series
engagement vs retention
3. Extra/Other
TIMING: this is probably important for you guys because you want to read it immediately not just wait for a long time, DONT WORRY THO, because this loads approximately 300 chapters in like 25 seconds :D, it's always up to date and loads real time :).
POPUP- WINDOW: On the extension side bar, you can add comments to the graph (usually always leave this on), and you can do add paid chapters. Please note, this is sometimes inaccurate. I would just toggle between on and off.
CACHE: It stores all the data that you load on your cache so it doesn't update, if ur visiting after some time (or not), you can simply click clear cache and then click load again. if that doesnt work, simply close and open it again.
BUGS: if you have any feedback or criticism you can post it here, and I should get back to you soon.
that's all for now, hope you enjoy (and rate it 5 stars 🥺🥺🥺) :D
basically just title lol (example above)
also the series has to be on the webtoon app lol (the green one) (that's where I pull engagement from)
edit: OH MY GOD U GUYS ARE FLOODING ME WITH THESE lol
also a bit misleading (im sorry but here u go):
The likes/comments graph shows raw totals. The engagement score is a normalized 0–100 rating that combines likes, and a small momentum factor to estimate overall response strength.
to put it more simply it evaluates the trend compared with the recent chapters in the series, and puts momentum factors, basically evaluating the response vs like recent chapters and seeing leveling out, and whether people stayed, ish (not exactly what it does but its kinda how i like to say it works), also tbf it does calculate with the respected 250k likes (as that is an average on most series), so popular series do get higher scores
(might decide to rmeove that last part tho and only factor in against each other)
(so they both pull from the same data, also slope of the engagement score doesn't matter, its just the "engagement score" that matters as well as the verdict :D )
i get its kinda misleading but i'm not able to grab views/time scrolling data (webtoon should give me access) :(
also feel free to check cuz I would love to know if I did something wrong with the code lol
edit #2: ~i gotta go to sleep in like 30, but tmrw I'll check for comments :)~
edit #3: I'm awake
edit #3: this was just a test lol to see how useful the chrome ext was, (humble promotion) I'll link the chrome extension once its done review (completely free) so u guys can use it :D (you can still comment in meantime)
edit #4: one of u guys dmed me and had an interesting point, because the popular series do in turn get higher scores, it kind of pushes away people from trying new series, so they suggested to make a different metric to calculate just basic retention over time (just a simple derivative lol), because of that, we now have 3 modes for each, likes + comments, engagement score, and retention score (for popular series retention and engagement are very similar lol), also they proposed a slightly different calculation for engagement score to make it more popularity based, so I added that as well :D
because of that, engagement score, still adds a momentum, but compares likes and comments to a baseline then a little more math and bam :D
so if ur comment is later than the above time i edited to add #4, u'll be getting 3 graphs) (unless popular series)
hi guys this is a chrome extension (currently under review so 1-2 days before its out) completely free, but basically it graphs the likes over time so you can understand when people dropped/ when most people left it/ when it got better / or if viewership is constant
right now I'm tuning the best fit, because a lot of people drop over time so I'll try and add a rate, but I hope you like it when it comes out
(video is in real time)
any feedback/criticism before its out is much appreciated (also it'll be completely free no way to even make money off a chrome ext)
- not exactly a comic self promo but yeah (don't ban me please)
(i'll drop the extension in like a few days after i clean it up),
above is the general idea, basically it just maps the reactions over chapters so then you can see when most people dropped / when it got good and stuff like that, hope you like it
speed: around 1 min / 150 chapters so it should be fast enough, better than reading and dropping if its terrible lol
it is a chrome extension
also asura if u see this, add it to ur website lol, but plz give me some credit :)
cost isn't a factor
Also if you do recommend it, who?
